Just talked on the phone with the outfit not entirely familiar with the difference between FM and Soft Point ammo. Three days and they have not figured out what they want to do about it. No one call backs, no one follows up. Nothing. I have to chase them for results. Wow!! I strongly advise anyone to avoid "The Armory of Virginia Beach".
I guess the FMJ can be used for stopping any vehicles fleeing the scene. Or, punching holes in paper targets. I am not sure if FMJ is welcome at Wittington Center's high powered rifle range. That is my only range within a days drive.

Most rifle target ammo is FMJ. Once the steel is thick enough the hard bullets just leave a little brass streak on it.

I noticed what I said just before I hit send, then I thought. "I wonder what Sean will come back with?) and I couldn't resist. Adding a smiley would have dampened the effect. 🤣😜😁🤠

Sure, i remmber when FMJ was the only ammo at some ranges. The way things have changed I was concerned there could be more restrictions on ammunition types. After all, someone might get hurt when FMJ Ball ammo is fired.

Just heard from "The Armory". They will be happy to ship me the correct ammo I ordered two weeks ago just as soon as they received the prior erroneous shipment returned.
That is not the way I would handle a problem like this but they do not seem to believe they made a mistake so they are not going to take any chances. I must be up to something? They asked me to email them a photo of the FMJ ammo boxes. I do not have a digital camera, mine disappeared some weeks ago. I do not posses a smart phone. I guess my profile does not meet their expectations so I can expect not much service from them.
This is the end of my dealing with them. "I close the Iron Door on you".

But it's Geneva Approved! 😁🤠 Sure it can be designed to fragment, tumble in unpredictable ways, or be made from radioactive materials. What kind of ammo would be OK then?

Practice with the cheap ammo and get a couple of boxes from Academy for hunting. The FMJ should be good for varmints, trespassers, aliens, etc.

Or you could just buy what you want from JG Sales in Prescott. Most of the Wolf ammo from Russia is FMJ. I had that problem when I wanted to shoot a Makarov 9/18 indoors because the ranges all want that brass so they can sell it for scrap.

They load these 'metric" cartridges to higher performance levels and with better bullets. I want nothing from Russia.

Where the heck did you come up with that! That is from one of my favorite movies and for many decades. The "Twentieth Century", 1934, wiht the ever great John Barrymore impersonating himself with parody and Carole Lombard. One of the original "Screwball" comedies. If you are a fan of Theater or movies, this is a must watch. "I close the iron door on you!" is one of my favorite lines and I have used it for years with varying success.

I thought depleted uranium was interesting but probably dangerous. Lead?, nah, too soft. Let's see, we could wrap the lead in tin and brass? I just wanted soft point hunting type ammo. It is the same price as FMJ. The milspec surplus FMJ ammo is long gone in 8 mm.

You can always use the Dum-Dum Arsenal method. Saw off the tip and cross cut the stump.

I checked out your recommendation and that is an interesting place. 8mm Mauser Linked Belts from some former Naaazi client state in eastern Yerup. Boxes of milspec 198 grain FMJ from Ethiopia. Cannot beat their prices. Thanks for the link.

Still trying to get my ammunition from The Armory of Virginia Beach, VA.
Last week, Fed Ex picked up the return parcel of FMJ.
Today I find that the Fed Ex tracking number given to me for the replacement ammo is not a valid tracking number. I cannot reach anyone. Every time I call, I am referred to "The Warehouse" which cannot be accessed by me. I have a feeling "The Warehouse" is the local Stripper club or bar or such. LOL!
Do yourself a favor and skip these guys for your purchases.

Ammo? Load your own and you will be much happier! Sure it takes a lil bit to find the correct load but once you do even the lower grade rifles will shoot much better. Having said that............ any of the higher grade ammo purchased from a reputable company should just fine. you can never go wrong with anything made by Lapua www.lapua.com/ammunition/sport-shooting-ammunition/

Not to mention the gold-plated prices.

Lapua does not offer an 8 X 57 cartridge, if seems.
They do have a nice selection of 6.5 X 55 Swedish.
