At least that's what they said on the morning news. I propose a chili cook-off. You all make yours and I'll make mine. I guess that won't work. Maybe The 2022 BriarPatch Chili Box Pass! Things might get fuzzy for those far down the list. Forget it.
It's a good excuse to make a vat of redeye, anyway. And for the love of all that's good and proper, no pasta. It's just wrong.

Since chili was a peon meal, no beans is just silly and elitist. Haven’t made any of mine for a while now. Need to do that soon. T’day, for lunch, had a can of Stagg. Added some Thai sweet chile sauce. Heretical filler of course but tasted great.
(When I was spending so much time in Ireland the one food I absolutely craved when back home was… Guess.)

I guess I'm making chili for dinner today. Yes, it will have beans - kidney and pinto. I like beans.

I have a can of Nalley's Thick Chili Con Carne and one of Wolf's. Might have to heat one up.
Just finished a bowl of Bar Harbor Manhattan Style Clam Chowder with Amy's Low Sodium Minestrone on top. Added left over garlic noodles and shrimp bits from the pan. Quite tasty.
There is a dish called "Chile" which can be red or green and often contains pork, chicken, beef, elk, bison, mutton, or what have you.
Then there is a dish called "Chili Con Carne" which is usually red, contains some form of meat and beans! Pintos, Negros, Navy, Cicis.
Both are welcome in this house or elsewhere.
Yes, Wendy's Chile is nice on a cold day and, yes, I know why Dave put it on the menu. That bothers me not one bit!

Upping the ante (and watching heads explode!)… I have no doubt that original peon chilis contained a major ingredient that is almost totally excluded from modern versions: corn. I use it in my own. I happily ignore elitist “rules” about how chili “should” be made.

I'm a dogmatic, elitist, prescriptivist linguist. Bar Harbor Manhattan Chowder is heretical.

In NE Texas beans in chili seem to be OK. In the rest of Texas it's just not done. I can eat it either way. I used to buy the chili with beans because it's the only chili that my family wouldn't devour before I had a chance at it. I prefer no beans. I can see Detroit chili needing lots of beans. I'm sure that the chili of two hundred years ago had beans. And New Mexico today. (same as the rest of the country 200 years ago)

(same as the rest of the country 200 years ago) Only sun baked Texans and Californians put beans in their NM style Chile! Here, we put the Chile ON and OVER the beans. Cooked and served separately. Me? I wrap beans in a tortilla while eating my Chile with a spoon. The two never meet until they arrive inside. Whichever way one enjoys it is fine by me. The important part is what you eat!

I hope you had breakfast at Jordan's. Or a drink at Geddy's. Touristy both, but charming in an old State of Maine manner. Or was it stately Wayne Manor?

That place is a pit (I was born there so I can speak from experience). Hot, humid and 60 variations of Spanish...rarely English is spoken there....and them is its good tolerable points.

I know that it's not kosher, but I liked it. It was more of a chili stew.

It will be late for National Chili Day, but we'll be having chili for my granddaughter's third birthday party next week. I don't know exactly what will or will not be in it; Herself is preparing it, and I will defer to her judgment and eat it with relish. Or maybe with hot sauce.

I mean, if they didn't taste bad, sure. It's certainly chilly enough here for chili. Don't have the fixin's, though.

Did all the prep work for the chili, and went to run an errand with my wife. Took longer than expected, so we ended up going out. Chili tomorrow.
