I will have everything filled and laid out in the next week and then it's the wifes decision as to what furniture goes in (I'm hoping for at least one leather wingback as a smoking spot).
I don't have the before pictures on here, I have to dig them out, but we opened up the wall between the two rooms, raised the ceilings back to their original 12 foot height, and everything you see except the two doors and some of the trim is brand new. The chimney was covered with plaster so we cleaned and exposed it. We added the tin tiles to the ceiling, and left the floors bare wood/subfloor because I like the look and character.
I can never get embedded pictures to work here, so I made an Imgur album. Follow the linky and see the fun!

There's some beautiful wood in that room. Is that all old/original wood, or did you just put it in?

There's some beautiful wood in that room. Is that all old/original wood, or did you just put it in? Some of the trim and the actual doors are original. The rest was matched as close as possible and the trim was replicated as close as possible. The house was built in 1880, so it's all hemlock and chestnut which you can't really get. The new stuff is all red oak, which was the closest grain structure/stain match that we found. Now on to the rest of the downstairs that has all the original wood painted over in 8 layers of oil based white paint.....because people....

You'll have to do it in stages. Can't move all that stuff at once. Stage 1, ship your pipes.

This is the coolest personal space I have ever seen! Classic, beautiful and very elegant. This is the kind of space I would like for myself.

I have a lot of old cypress in my 100 yr old house, but it doesn’t even compare with the space that is highlighted above, just takes my breath away.
