I prefer when he, as a straight white Canadian, explains the experience of being a Black or queer American.
Here, we see him use many words and many gestures to explain that...interpersonal communication happens? How insightful.

Glad to see that free speech and thought is still welcome on the Patch. A certain group of people is always unhappy if others have "right think". Which means like you, even though you have no beliefs or standards. Hence you are the most unhappy all the time. Glad I could get a rise out of you, though I don't see anything controversial about the post. It just seems like common sense, which is severely lacking today.

I take it back. This rambling word salad is very wise and brilliant. Many many people in the US voted for word salad in the last two elections so something about it must resonate…

You don’t have to agree with every jot and tittle of what a person says to agree that there is wisdom of what he says in this particular post.
He talks about “mob mentality” corrupting the democratic process.
As pipe smokers, we have the “mob mentality” that drives the legislation and perception that smoking and tobacco is evil and should be done away with. If you throw the baby out with the bath water, you undermine the process that harms the hobby, and informs others that you engage in an evil practice. And until the industry is decimated, you deserve to help fund the demise through burdensome regulation and taxation.

What times we live in! In the 61 years that I was privileged to have my father in my life I never heard him utter an uncivil word to anyone— though there were plenty of opportunities. Nor did he raise his voice. It took me quite a long time to understand how difficult that is, and to realize that such is the True Mark of a gentleman. It is especially difficult for us in our current environment. I guess we just have to endeavor to persevere.

Money certainly plays a role in funding mob mentality, along with crony capitalism. What often starts as a grassroots issue, people with deep pockets wanting to glom on for their own purposes, are more than willing to pay for and reward for what is sometimes full on anarchy. There are overnight millionaires in one such mob, that instantly had custom homes built...it can be quite rewarding.
There are a lot of termites that will proudly declare that we live in a democracy(which to them is "mob rules" even though we live in a representative republic), and that those that disagree with them should shut the hell up.
I have seen no less than three public figures state as much in the last week, and the colleges seem to be the farm teams for seeding the population with that propensity.

I'm always going to disagree that education is the problem and ignorance is a solution to anything. I'll be honest about my bias there!
I'm genuinely interested in who the public figures are and what they said. DM me to keep Patch peace, if you want. I'll trade you for Rick Scott's fascist manifesto .pdf.

I was speaking generally. If people are dissatisfied, that being anyone, they should run for office and lobby for change. I apologize if I offended you.
