I don't have sandblasting equipment, or the place to put it! It'll get rusticated as gnarly as I can get it. I'd love to start playing will sandblasting, though. Maybe in the spring if I can make room in my shed.

Neat stuff Silver. I don't see why you cant sell pipes when learning for a deep discount. Keeps the hobby rolling. Nothing wrong with selling a shop pipe for $50 or $75 etc. Hell, I sell pipes for $10 just to keep them in circulation.

Thanks, peteguy. Will be considering putting some up for sale this winter, I think.

Plattshh. Cramps was selling his first pipes cheap. I don't think he had any complaints.

It'll be interesting to see how it darkens as it gets smoked.

Billiards are a test for anybody's skill, they say. I'd say you did darn well!
I think I may have asked you this before, but do you find aged briar any different to work with?

My first go with (known) aged briar. It doesn't feel much different than any other block I've worked with. Working with another 40-year old block now. Another billiard. Need more practice.

That Billard is a beauty, big, not bulky, good lines. That’s a 100$ pipe if ever there was one!

That one looks a bit more svelte through the shank, Pete. That could just be the darker color, I guess, though. Either way, I'd say your apprenticeship is coming along nicely. That's one I would be happy to put in my rack.

Nice pipe! You are definitely doing justice to the most iconic pipe shape.

Thanks, urb. I'm trying. Yes, the shank is thinner than the last one. I used a slimmer stem for this one. It is still in the group 5 range. I've got two substantial billiards, now. If I make more billiards, I'll have to raffle them off or something. On to something different for a change of pace.

Is that too similar to a billiard for now?

I haven't thought about making a traditional apple, I've made a couple in sort of the Italian (to my eye) style. Could be an interesting challenge. I do want to stick to more traditional shapes for a while.

Very nice billiard Silver, possibly better than I could make, but I confess I stopped trying long ago. I have to say this thread is one I look forward to following. You make a darn nice pipe!

Thanks, Terry. Don't stop trying, but agree that billiards are a bit of a pain. Hope you can get back into the shop soon, I enjoy seeing your pipes, too. As far as my thread goes, I hope people enjoy it and am not wasting anyone's time. At the very least, it could be good for a laugh (especially the early ones).
