I really like #33, Pete, the thick walls just seem to call my name, Herb, Oh Herb...but some might say Brad, Oh Brad, or maybe Ron, Oh Ron!

I appreciate the contributions made by the pipe carvers on the forum, it is great to see the ascending skills as each pipe is made. Pete and Terry are on a great trajectory as I see it.
If we could just get Pete to leave the northern climate and come where sensible people migrate, the Arizona Pipe Club would be a powerhouse.

We could trade shop secrets! (Ok so I have none, but I could learn LOL)

Pete's main shop secret is to smoke a lot of Haunted Bookshop while in the shop.

Pete's main shop secret is to smoke a lot of Haunted Bookshop while in the shop. Sadly I am a renter, and my shop is in my living room. While my wife would LOVE me to smoke in the shop, my lease says no smoking...

In fact, the last billiard with the larger chamber gets a little too warm for my liking when I smoke it. Lesson learned.

Maybe he could get a lease on your old apartment. 🤪 I'd need a wetsuit. And a lawyer in the family.

You have a lathe in your living room? I wonder if my wife would - nevermind, that won't happen. Getting the shavings and sawdust out of the carpet is a bear. No carpets, pergo flooring thruout. It's one of the things we like about the place (Dogs and carpets seldom go well together). As for the lathe in the living room, well my wife filled our shed up so you cant get in it. So I put my tools in the living room. (Of course, she ok'd it prior to it happening. I am a spoiled man )

Spent a few hours in the workshop the past couple days, working on a couple blocks of briar. I thought I'd try my hand at a bent billiard/brandy with one of them, and another Dublin with the other. The following pic shows both, and the second pic shows the bent brandy - WITH THE MOST HORRENDOUS SANDPIT!!! There's also a smaller, but still noticeable, on the other side of the stummel. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about this yet. I was planning on keeping the stummel smooth. I could spot rusticate it, or rusticate the whole thing. I think I'll have a beer.

I have several excellent spot-rusticated pipes. I wish I could have bought one of the Butz Choquin pipes with the brass inlays.

A couple more pics of the pipe. I polished it on the wheel with some white diamond. I do this to highlight the scratches, so I can see how much sanding still needs to be done.

A sound strategy when an important decision needs to be made. Maybe you could experiment with it? Try a rustication you haven't done?
