Got a couple more started. They'll be sitting for a bit, as I'm busy with outdoor work. I'll get into them on rainy days later in the week. Also, expecting to receive an angle grinder in the mail in a couple days. Once I get that mounted to my bench and fabricate a dust-catching system, it'll mean less filing and quicker work shaping the stummels. The one with the yellow stem is going to be my take on a Danish apple (not an apple Danish). The other is going to be a chunky, slightly oversize pot (sort of an Italian interpretation of the standard). We'll see.

Going to enjoy your work on these two especially the Apple.

Worked on these off and on, when taking a break from working in the yard and the heat. The bench mounted angle grinder makes quick work of the rough shaping. The pot and Danish-inspired apple are coming along. Final shaping and sanding done.

Danish inspired Apple is a good description of that one.

Pipes #18 & 19 are done. Pipe #18 is a pot with contrast stain. Pipe #19 is a "Danish-inspired" apple.

Thanks, Monty. Not sure I like the end of the shank. May revisit that in the future.

Thanks, Monty. Not sure I like the end of the shank. May revisit that in the future. I thought that too. Looks a little "plain" compared to the beauty of the bowl. Maybe some improvement will come to you sometime down the road. You sure made a great improvement on that other shank you "revisited".

I really like the Apple, but I will admit that one of my thoughts was "too bad it doesn’t have plateaux on the end of the shank". Maybe revisit the pipe when you start playing with shank adornments?

Plateaux on the end of the shank would have been great, but this was carved from an ebauchon block. Some sort of adornment would be nice.

Got lucky. Never know what you get with ebauchon blocks. The block for the pot cost $4.

Nice shape, the slight bend is stylish, and makes for a classy pointer when not puffing.
