Really nice grain on that one. Just a little more bend...then don't show us any more till you have a tray of six or eight for sale! Great job, as always! Thanks, Herb. I did give it a little more bend. I've got to get a photo of the pipe to use when I post a smoke with it.

Don't know if you've looked at the Vermont site recently, but supposedly they bought a bunch of very old briar from an even very older pipemaker who passed recently.

If you mean the 40 year old blocks, yes, I saw that. Didn't know the backstory, though. Mean to pick up a few. Thanks for the heads-up.

That is NOT a half bad Zulu! Excellent job! Your shaping on the bowl is spot on. Keep ‘em coming!

I put a little more bend into the stem. Then didn't seat it to the shank, when I took the photo, oops.

I put a little more bend into the stem. Then didn't seat it to the shank, when I took the photo, oops. I would take that bend back out, personally. Way too much. This is a good example:

Yeah, comparing the photos, I think you're right. Easy fix! Thanks for the feedback!
Great to have you drop in and check things out. I haven't been very busy in the workshop. Too many summer things going on. When are we going to see some more of your work?

I put a little more bend into the stem. Then didn't seat it to the shank, when I took the photo, oops. I think the new bend looks way better than the earlier one part of the problem is the angle that the bowl ends up in. Especially when clenched. You don’t want a bowl that ends up almost parallel to the ground. The other problem is that much bend disrupts the elegance of the shape.

adding congrats on that nice freehand, the smooth/rusticated contrast, reminds me of Tinsky's "black & tan" products. IF you ever decide to sell it...you know how to contact me!

Thanks, Monty. Not exactly the shape I drew in my sketch pad. As I was working on the stummel, it just wasn't looking right at the heel. So, here we are.
