I'm trying out another of the 4Noggins blends I got yesterday. Tonight is Imagine in a Pioneer calabash. Been sitting on the fence with this one. A review would be appreciated please. Sure, but this is based on only two bowls so far. I found it to be an excellent smoke, very smooth, not bitey even when I was pushing it hard, easy to light and burned great. The amount of deer tongue is excellent without going overboard, it never exhibited the strange bitter burnt flavor that too much can cause. The tobacco smoked like a mild Virginia/Perique with deer tongue. The burley only rounded out the tobacco. With that being said, I am a fan of deer tongue and I was left wondering if the small amount of perique was really enhancing the flavor. I don't think it was hurting it, but I also don't think it was necessarily helping it since it was a somewhat "muddled" flavor to me. Overall, a mild strength tobacco, medium flavoring strength, quality natural tasting aromatic. It left me wanting more tobacco flavors/strength to show through or a tobacco component to create a little more complexity. Of course what I consider a shortcoming could be a plus to many aromatic smokers. Definitely worth trying.

Firedance Flake in a 1950s Texaco gimme billiard. It's actually a great smoking pipe. Imported briar too! Iced tea on the side.

Very busy and beautiful day here. Kinda beat. Alternated between Haunted Bookshop and Three Friars all day while potting up a gazillion plants. Backyard is starting to look like it's supposed to. Done for the day. Enjoying a beer and some McConnell Barking Road in a MM Mark Twain.

2017 Dunhill Dark flake in a Tsuge Bent Dublin. I have to thank Ronv69 for acquiring this one. He came on the forum some years back and said something of the sort.. I cannot believe the low prices SP has on some Tsuge pipes… I think it was $70.

I was going to continue trying the 4Noggins blends I got on Friday, next up was to be Bread Loaf. However, I can't figure out where I put it. I know I got it, but likely due to too much tobacco and general disarray, I haven't found it yet and I'm too tired to continue looking right now, so I'm smoking Erinmore Flake in a Pioneer calabash.

Bald Headed teacher in one of my two Royal Guards. Royal Guard is one of three Stanwell seconds that hit the Tinder Box shelves in the late seventies or very early in the eighties, there were Royal Guards, Royal Danish, and a third line that I can't for the life of me remember. The look and hand feel of the Royal Guard really called out to me much more than the other two, but all three were a great value, at under thirty bucks each. I sure wish I could get my time machine running again!

Started the day with Haunted Bookshop in the Monday cob and coffee in the backyard. It is a hot and muggy day here. Feels like mid-July. Thankfully, there's a breeze off the lake. Thanks to all who've served our country. Prayers for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
