Waiting on some cobs to stain for a friend...last time the P.O. sent his package to Texas instead of N. Carolina...must be the gremlins working in the post office...probably some anti-smoking fiend. Hopefully tomorrow the package will arrive.

Got a couple of orders in today. One from P+C, the $50 Brushed Black, pouch, and tin special and one from Smoking Pipes, a handful of Sutliff bulk aromatics (20% off) to try out, just because... 203 Coffee, 150 Mark Twain, 245 ZBC, #600 Mixture 79 I haven't smoked the pipe, but I have smooth Stanwell 13 that I like quite a bit, I imagine I'll like this one as much.

A Hugunin's pipe from eBay. I haven't been able to uncover much about Hugunin's other than that it was the name of a pipe shop in Los Angeles. I'm taking for granted that it's one of the shop's house pipes. It's gonna require a fair amount of cleaning, but appeared, from the listing, to be in good condition structurally. I figured that, for less than $10 including shipping, it's worth a shot

I got the same pipe and pouch but went with Orlik Golden Slices since I didn't have it and have a nice supply of Bengal Slices.

We all have done it more than once, like above I typed “ WATS “ instead of “ WAYS “ .....meaning what are you smoking. It’s called lack of sleep!!

I just ordered a Falcon Hunter Bent Pipe Stem (for my birthday earlier this week). Now I need to find a nice, large, meerschaum bowl for said pipe. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Randy, belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY, hope your special day was great!!! Take a look at the bowls Tobaccopipes has available, I’ve purchased a few from them......very satisfied with the Falcon quality. I prefer their bigger chamber bowls on my Falcons. Happy hunting and enjoy your new Falcon for many years to come 👍👍

Went to a random shop in CT. Everything was 3 years old, at least. Got some 3 P's from 2016, Ennerdale from 2015, BB1938 from 2016, Seattle Evening from 2016.

This bad boy arrived in the mail today. Sold to me by a fellow on the other pipe forum for a song. It's drilled very oddly, vertically. The draught hole is dead center in the bottom of the bowl, and then the shank proceeds down vertically. The stem joins the shank at a 90 degree angle. Sort of a stacked reverse-calabash design. It's lightweight and it has a vulcanite stem, so I'm thrilled. One final mystery: Who the heck is Hansen pipes, with a thistle/clover for a logo?

So I cleaned up the mystery "Hansen" pipe today -- that's how I eager I was, I got to it the same day it came in. I gave it a gentle ream, as I do every used pipe that passes through my hands, and I was surprised to find the bowl coating just flaked right off. And underneath, was, I sh** you not, JB Weld. I about messed my pants with surprise. My reamer couldn't touch the JB Weld layer. Didn't make a dent. Had to get medieval on that sucker with a Dremel.
From talking to the seller, I have come to believe that a naive American pipemaker decided to create his bowl-coating with carbon black applied to the inside of a coat of JB Weld. Not great. Ground it a bit out of round with the tungsten disc, but, I got all the JB Weld out. All's well that ends well: smoked just fine, burning down the virgin Briar with some St Bruno. Clenches marvelously.

Looks like most places are out of Falcon meerschaum bowls. I think I'm going to pre-order one from Meerqueen.

Daughter Noel ordered something to be sent to me for my birthday from Amazon, and it was farmed out to some delivery service called "ONTRACK"...never heard of them... package never arrived. When Noel checked on it, tracking said it had been delivered to the door at 5:48pm. Valerie and I were home at the time. No package.
Told her to get after Amazon for a refund. Amazon is going downhill.
Heads up.

Did the “what are you smoking thread” merge with “What’s in the Mail?” My bad. Senior moment. Shift it over, Andre. done and done

I'm not fond of ordering tobacco when temps are in the teens and below. Had 5 tins of tobacco sit at my neighbors side door for 2 days and then another 12 hours at my side door ( when he or someone put it there ) in 2 degrees. USPS delivered it to the wrong address and never confirmed delivery on there website.....UPS is much better than USPS....
