From recent orders from Tobaccopipes.com and Iwan Ries & Co. Talk about fast shipping! Ordered on Friday, delivered on Sunday - thanks to USPS who delivers on Sunday here! I apparently got the last 4 tins of their (Tobaccopipes.com) Founder's Choice. Founder's Choice is the same as their St. Patrick's Day blend from 2015, which was a very good year for that.

Those are great pipes Charlie. But, Jeez, he wanted 40 bucks and you chiseled him another 5 bucks! Mean bugger you are.

I was prepared to pay $40 When I get really good deals like this, I only post the price in order to educate others that there are deals to be had, and encourage them to do the same.

I never realized those Peterson special editions were such large tins. It makes the higher price more reasonable. May have to try it one of these days - it certainly sounds like an unusual blend: Va/Bur/Or/BC rum-mango-vanilla!

A sandblasted Dunhill Cumberland bent Dublin and an E Wilke Prince, both estate pipes. Not nearly the deal Charlie gets, but I'm happy.

Not really in the mail, but earlier in the day I perused the local online classifieds and ran across these two pipes. The Gentleman selling them said that he picked them up while in the Navy in the early 80's. He has never smoked a pipe, never had the desire to, but decided that it was time to part ways. They have push pull tenons, so I would have to say that they were probably made just before he acquired them. The cases have a sticker that says: Meerschaum Koncak, Eskiehir Turkey. He was asking $40.00 for both but agreed to take $35. Nice looking meers Charlie, especially the meer on the bottom photo. They're good smokers. I purchased a Koncak about 3 1/2 yrs back... Enjoy your pipes Charlie, and get some color going on them

Thanks Mark, Mine are about 5.5 inches from stem to stern, so they are closely in league with yours...looking forward to geetting them to color like yours are doing. I have some estate meers that are beautifully colored by men that lived long before I came onto the scene. For real street cred, you have to do your own coloring!

A Dunhill birth year pipe is on my bucket list...I love the Dunhill story, Alfred was quite the cad though...let me know if you would like to read the book authored by his daughter "Our family business", quite a good read also I have Alfred's book titled "The art of gentle smoking" also excellent. I only have one prince pipe, and every time I smoke it I wonder why I don't have more...mine is simply stamped 'Hand finished, Algerian Briar". As for the deals...I have some "they got away from me" that makes me really sad...win some, lose some.

Got a package coming! Got a package coming!
Some more Royal Yacht, a tin of RO Parique Series Blend GP-11 a complimentary pouch of Drexel VIII, and spending some expense reimbursement money on a couple of lusted after pipes, a Chacom Atlas Yellow 262, and Savinelli Trevi smooth 626.
Its a dangerous thing - telling people you don't need or want any more pipes, and then getting an expense check in the mail, and shaking like a leaf knowing exactly how full of bovine scatology you were when you said what you said. Not that anyone believed me I am sure.

Just went ahead and ordered an underpriced copy on Amazon - I couldn't afford to replace your copy if something happened to it and had to pay market. I'm always paranoid about the condition of books I borrow. But, thank you for the lead on a good book, much appreciated. Never owned a prince before, but it was so elegant looking, I couldn't help myself. Haven't smoked it yet, but have high hopes (don't we always?).

While I was at Paul's Pipe Shop last night for the Arrowhead Pipe Club meeting, I picked up the most recent issue of Pipes & Tobacco and a pound of Paul's Darwin Asa (Cyprian reblend). If you’re not familiar with the blend it's an American-English blend. The shop finally ran out of Syrian Latakia for blending several months ago. Dan Spaniola rebuilt the blend using Cyprian Latakia and did a terrific job.

Just picked up a tin of sweet kilarney for August BOM. Getting ahead of myself. Question is do I wait until August before trying it? I think so.

Open now, set aside a bowlful for about 20 minute dry time, jar the rest, enjoy ongoingly! Perhaps take note of any change over two month aging.

My purchases are pretty limited these days but it's my birth month so what the hey: Five tins Savinelli Doblone d'Oro just in case: My first pipe of the year, a Borge Morgensen 9mm egg which I couldn't resist for the price. Love the Cumberland stem and there's more bird eyes than the pic suggests. Draws like a dream with a meerschaum filter.

Just picked up a tin of sweet kilarney for August BOM. Getting ahead of myself. Question is do I wait until August before trying it? I think so. I have all the BoM's already except for Sail yellow. It's in my next order though. It's been hard not opening them. But I have better self control over not opening than I do ordering more. It doesn't help that I've been telling myself I need to save some money for other things... but then I won $50 on a scratch off lottery ticket this morning. It just so happens that my cart at SP is currently sitting at $51.81 "Check out" is taunting me. Adding a few more is lingering in my mind as well. I'm still searching for that blend that just hits me and says "this was made just for you."
