While participating in family fun, smoked the usual Haunted Bookshop, Three Friars, Bayou Morning and some Barking Road in the day-appropriate cob. Also, breaking in a Dagner poker cob that came in the mail today. Hope you're all having a great weekend!

Sun has pretty much set, neighborhood fireworks have begun. I moved to the subterranean smoking lair (aka the bomb shelter, according to my dogs. They're not happy with the fireworks.) Pegasus in the Saturday cob.

I'm finishing off some Trout Stream from yesterday. The pipe is a small black billiard from Grabow, with the insta-green stem. This stem material must have a very high sulfur content; I've fitted it with a softy-bit, just so I can smoke it without buffing it out after each smoke. Y.M.M.V. but I much prefer the plastic/ish stems Grabow puts on the freehands
The coffee is fresh and hot, and the flavor profile of the Trout Stream continues to unfold, I'm really liking this tobacco.

2016 Haunted Bookshop in a Mark Twain cob. Tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, cucumber, and zucchini all watered in. I've taken to eating the purslane growing around my tomatoes while I'm out watering. I used to remove purslane as a weed for many years from around my tomatoes until I realized how much of a super food and a companion plant it is. It's full of omega-3 fatty acid, much more than spinach and it's full of a slew of micronutrients and antioxidants. Vitamins A/C, manganese, magnesium, potassium, calcium and small amounts of iron and phosphorus. Companion plant, because they act really well as a root shade cover crop that holds in moisture around the tomatoes, and their roots are very shallow and don't interfere with established plants.
If you see these little succulent buddies growing in your rich garden soil, eat it! The fresh raw leaves have a great taste, and they make a great salad along with however you want to make them. Great in cucumber salads.

Full walks done, Quorum 6x50 for company (finish later when out sitting on porch). After feeding the Ed, BB1938 in huge bowl Tinsky blk/tan DrunkenPoker & finish the paper. Nothing special to do, plenty of food, truck gassed up at Rez stores ($4.50 regular, local Speedway $4.85).
67, to 76, should be clear all day
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY continuing on the simple side best for me

One section of our yard is covered in it. Never thought about eating it. It never ceases to amaze me just how many edible plants and truly medicinal plants are growing as weeds everywhere around us. My garden beds grow lady finger, lamb's quarters, purslane, dandylions, & burdock heartily enough. If extended to what grows on a couple acres it's like a food oasis. In the spring there's tons of purple deadnettle and others as well.
