Went grocery shopping with my wife. Took the Monday cob filled with Three Friars for the drive. Back home, more Three Friars on the front porch. Watching it drizzle.

Our Carter Hall, from Malin Tobacconists, in a slightly bent bulldog, marked Starfire over Dr Grabow. A lovely pipe, with twin bead lines, and a soft matt finish over dark walnut stain; one of the first pipes I ever restained.

Goldbrick - I've got a real softspot for Dr Grabow pipes in general but don't own a Starfire yet. I've always liked their looks, and I especially cherish the majority of mine as they came from my grandfather. Most are late 60s-70's but I've also got a 1937 registration number era straight Rhodesian. I'm going to be smoking Sutliff Uno in a slight bent Leonessa Briosa rusticated apple, which was the first briar pipe I ever bought for $35. I love the pipe.

Quite late for it, but I had the chance to take a morning smoke while it was still cool outside today. Had a full bowl of Wilke Peanut Butter Chocolate. A very nice aromatic if you like that sort of thing.

Our son and his girlfriend came over for dinner tonight. He and I spent some time on the front porch before and after dinner. I had a few bowls of the usual - Haunted Bookshop, Three Friars and Oak Alley, in the Monday cob.

Zach - have you been to the Dr. Grabow Collector's Forum? Not all that active, but a lot of interesting stuff there. History, photos...

Another bowl of Haunted Bookshop, this time in a MM Great Dane Spindle with forever stem. Truth be told, the cheap plastic stems that come with the cobs are more comfortable to me.
