Yo trai
Thanks for your FB-fu. Sorry to hear of Martin's passing, but not surprised. He was active here before the COVID, and I talked to him several times when I was visiting the Bay Area. We tried to connect a couple of times, and I offered to pick him up so we could go to the Golden Gate PC at Telford's in Marin. The last attempt, he was appreciative but said his condition was so poor that he could not light his pipe. I had really wanted to spend some time with him because he had a wealth of interesting things to say. RIP

Martin was a true gentleman...he was funny and charming and everything a person would want to be. I had several transactions with him and he always treated me as a brother. I'm sure I speak for all the brothers here on the Patch when I say he will be truly missed.

Dramatwist was a great member here. We joined within a few weeks of each other and I was in awe of his stories. I noticed, this morning, that a username called DramatwistJr had tried to register. I guessed that was his son, and after seeing this, it most certainly is. I hope that dramatwistjr knows that our thoughts and prayers are still with Martin's family, from his 'other' family.

From everything I saw in his posts, he was a man of wit, humor, and charm. I've missed his posts for some time, and this is sad, but not unexpected. Our loss is Heaven's gain. R.I.P. Martin.

Thanks for the sad news, Charlie. I certainly didn't know him except from forum posts and knew he wasn't well. I did enjoy his contributions. Belated condolences to dramatwistjr and family.

I asked for a Falcon bowl on the forum a few years ago. He sent me a brand new falcon pipe that I still use today. I tried to send him tobacco or cash and he refused. I stealth shipped him a bottle of wine with the Briar patch Logo on it and I titled it something along the lines of The Patch Man of the year. I never heard back if he received it but I hope he did and I hope he was able to enjoy it. A truly good man.

This is very sad news. I got to know him pretty well when I was new here. We conversed fairly regularly. He was one of my favorite people here. I knew his ailments were getting worse, and we lost touch sometime in 2019. I tried emailing him in 2020, but never heard back. He was an early supporter of my pipe making, and had at least 2 or my pipes. Great guy, well spoken, kind, discerning, measured, and generous. He will be, and already is, missed. I will smoke a bowl of Penzance in his honor later today.

He has not posted there in several years, however. Since some of the members there had contact with him, I'll share this there.
