2016 C&D Bijou in my 1964 Dunhill Root Briar group 4 Billiard. Bijou is some mighty tasty tobacco, and that pipe ain't bad either...I'm smoking P.A. in an Estella 616, with a large coffee cooling at my elbow.

They all have their own places to sleep, but they prefer to take over mine. You'll hear no complaints out of me! The pup is probably the happiest. Not only does she get to cuddle with everyone, but Percy gets a break from being a horse when Alice is asleep. Again, life is good.

Bijou is some mighty tasty tobacco, and that pipe ain't bad either...I'm smoking P.A. in an Estella 616, with a large coffee cooling at my elbow. This tin is from April 2016 ie the first production run. There is some plume and crystal sparkles. 😎 My first time smoking Bijou has an interesting story. Bijou was first released on Saturday at the Chicago Show 2016. On Thursday afternoon in the tent, shortly after arriving, my local Laudisi rep invited me to join him at a table. I sat down and was introduced to Jeremy Reeves and Chris Tarler. Jeremy pulls out a tin of Bijou and tells me about the blend and that it’s being released on Saturday. Of course, he offered me a bowl. As I’m filling my pipe, I can’t help but think that there I was trying this blend for the first time and in front of the blender. What was I going to do if it sucked? 🤪 Luckily, it was stellar and I bought my limit in tins at the C&D table on Saturday morning. The pipe is both my first Dunhill and my birth year Dunhill. I got really really lucky in finding my birth year Pipe in the trifecta of favorite shape, favorite size, and favorite finish. 😎

I loaded up on all of the cellar series blends upon release, never cracked one though, they recommended 15 years I believe. Yeah I bought into the marketing, but I figured it was valid.

This is something you concocted while I was away, I guess. Three Friars and . . . which Bayou blend? Its 50% Three Friars, 30% Low Country Virginia-Burley and 20% Bayou Morning. Herb came up with the name. Interesting. I've never had 2 of those. How'd you come up with the blend? (Apologies if this is repeating old news.)

(Apologies if this is repeating old news.) Well, I don't think its been discussed much. I was smoking Bayou Morning at the time, and was enjoying the perique, but thought something with a little less perique in the equation would make a nice all-day blend (but a little more than what HB or 3F have). Played around with ratios and the LC was added to round the whole thing out. I've even played around with pressing some cakes. Those are jarred and resting. First batch from September will be opened this weekend.

Hal O' the Wynd in the latest out of the workshop. I have always pronounced it as Hal o the wind. In a recent podcast Shane Ireland pronounced it as Hal o the wined. Guessing he knows better than me. (Catching up on podcasts, at Pipesmagazine, the episode after the Vegas show… he goes over the blends that get much better with age)”, a very informative episode.)

My son-in-law picked up a tin when they were in Scotland over the summer. He was corrected on pronunciation by the tobacconist. I guess a "wynd" is sort of an alley over there.
