I spent two hours last night cleaning an antique German meerschaum and getting it ready to smoke. There’s still more to do, polishing the horn stem and a re-wax of the bowl, but I wanted to try it out before investing more time. I’m smoking WC Elf Dandruff in it now and the pipe is smoking great.

Nice...a nice pipe to smoke especially in the holiday season, love the cherry wood stem. some of my German/Austrian lap pipes have cherry wood, some have the flexible stem, the flexible stems are more problematic over time, than the cherry wood. A festive pipe to be sure that you have there!

A festive pipe to be sure that you have there! Thanks! I have a number of pipes with the flexible stems but I find cleaning them without damaging the material very difficult. Also, I’ve had a couple that had a strong mildew odor to them that I couldn’t get rid of. Then there is the fraying. I still think they are cool though. I actually picked this one out to put into service largely because of the stem.

Annoyed Cornishman in my Kaywoodie London Made 72B Billiard. Is that a slightly diluted version of Angry Cornishman? Precisely. To my taste, Cornishman does not have enough Latakia and Angry Cornishman has too much. So, I mix them 1:1 and call the result Annoyed Cornishman.

Home after an evening of the children of my nieces and nephews wreaking havoc (family Christmas party). Really disappointed in their parents. Total chaos. A couple Boulevardiers to settle the nerves. Friar's Bayou in the slightly bent, rusticated billiard.

2017 Brighton in my Scott Thile blasted Lovat. How does some age make Brighton? No big changes with 5 years. It’s a bit smoother and the citrus note (apricot topping?) is a bit less.

Peter Heinrich Dark strong Flake in a Peterson XL 26. If it was a Sherlock Holmes series pipe it would be the Hansom, the shape of the bowl as looking like the light on the cab of a buggy called the Hansom cab. . That is one gorgeous pipe, the grain is beautiful.

Much earlier, started the day with Haunted Bookshop in the Sunday cob and coffee. Trap shooting, some Old Gowrie and the World Cup Final followed. Now, more Haunted Bookshop in the Sunday cob.

I tasted some of the smokers pride I infused with bourbon last month. Glad saved some because it turned out very good.
