We went to our son's for dinner and to help him with a plumbing issue. Friar's Bayou in the rusticated "55" along for the ride. Back home now, with Haunted Bookshop in the Wednesday cob. You help out with plumbing issues, you say??? 🤣

Had a bowl of Wilke Bestmake in the Pete POY and it's still getting better. After looking at it closer the drilling isn't as bad as I thought it was. The draft hole was partially clogged by the bowl coating, which was taken care of by a couple of bristle cleaners. I like the new chimneys on the new System pipes. It does everything a Peterson should, but there is still t hat fugly blast and thin front.

Wife and daughter are heading to visit family for close to two weeks so I'm loading several pipes and have plenty of peace and quiet to sit and read and smoke right in my living room La-Z-Boy recliner.
I first loaded up an old MM Freehand with an Italian vulcanite stem, with leftovers mixture of the Bengal Slices, Haunted Bookshop, Kendal Flake, and I added in a good bit of Sutliff Z92 Vanilla Custard to use this stuff up.
The second pipe is my RDP sandblasted strawberry briar bulldog with midnight blue ebonite stem full of 1/5/2021 Gawith Hoggarth Broken Scotch Cake. This jar turned two years of age today, and this Virginia ages very well. The RDP bulldog is in fact, primarily dedicated for Broken Scotch Cake. But this stuff is terrible, and you all should continue to not buy this blend.

It's usually one that's readily available, and available currently in bulk and tin at SP. Keep in mind it's a straight forward and mild brown flue cured Virginia broken flake. Many people don't appreciate it and think it's too mild but it's probably the best African flue cured brown Virginia flake on the market. It can be very monotone and dependable to a fault so many consider it too bland. Often gets used in slow smoke competitions in the UK. It's just that cardboard-like, bran-like character. If you don't end up ordering it, I can make sure to send you some.

I will say there's nothing else it compares to as there is no vinegar, no astringency and it stands on it's own in this way. I'll have to send you sample.

Kind of unusual for a straight Virginia to be called a "Scotch" anything. Maybe the name isn't meant to imply a Scottish blend.

I don't recall where I heard it but I believe internally to Gawith, Scotch has something to do with their proprietary blend of flue cured brown Virginia balanced with sun cured, and it's cake because it's cut plug.
