Any outside wildlife activity gets Eli stoked. The same thing happens with one of our drivers on his Vegas run, his name isn't Eli though.

Ran out of silver paint so the tracks aren’t done yet but I’m slowly working my way thru getting these tanks ready for tabletop. Got more paint and a ink wash on the way so I should be able to finish them by the event in going to in april.

For those who might be interested, "we have ignition! Lift off at 52 minutes past the hour." In other words, the old diesel started and ran up to normal operating temperature. Hopefuly, repeatable results tomorrow!

Me and my oldest boy have had our issues throughout the years, bit we've worked through them and have a better relationship now than we ever have before. Today, I have to say goodbye to him for a bit. He's leaving this crap hole town to follow his dreams. He goes down to Jacksonville today, and ships out to Ft. Leonard Wood tomorrow. I've never been more proud of him, and I can't wait to meet a completely different man in a few months.

May he gain experience and self confidence while being as safe as a soldier can be in these times.

Spent all day wondering if I really need a water softener and whether I really want to spend 2000 dollars on improving water quality in my home. I just can't believe there isn't a cheaper solution. I guess it depends on your water. When I was in MC/DF, we had drinking water delivered. Shower and washing was tap water. What is wrong with the water that you are trying to fix. If it's just hard, can you live with it? We have hard water with a LOT of iron. We have a 5 stage water filter from Amazon for our drinking water that removes most contaminants and iron. It's supposed to last 5 years and then you replace it. Reverse osmosis is the best and cheaper in the long run. Basically it's just hard but my Queridisima swears it messes up her hair and skin. I'm set to look at a a reverse osmosis system today.

I have a water softener and reverse osmosis system, as the water is pretty hard here, no regrets. My grandmother that lived on the continental divide tapped into an underground river that was full of minerals, and the icewater from the tap was clear and delicious. And the university of Colorado sent a team of researchers up there because there was an extremely low rate of intestinal/ kidney issues. Here in the desert, we have a ton of people on dialysis and in certain areas, it seems really high. I cannot help but think that the water one consumes for life may play a role. I suppose it could depend on where you live?

I consume distilled water whenever I am in town to buy it. If electricity was not costly, I would set up my old still again and distill my own water.

Now we are far more careful and discerning.

I would blame the kidney problems on evaporation and not being able to drink enough water to keep up with the extremely low humidity. When we travel to the west we are always surprised by the dried up look of the middle aged women.

The people here think that the water is hard, but compared to the well water we had in Harris County it's very soft. Drives me crazy trying to get the soap off in the shower. In Humble we had to clean the scale off the faucet spouts at least once a year. We don't get that with the water here. We are on mostly well water here too, but the main mineral is iron, not calcium carbonate.

So sayeth a grand old Texas Lady to my wife and I when we visited in San Antonio in '96. She was up there with Lady Bird Johnson in style, grace and grandeur.

Another fantastic day here in NE Texas. Heat coming next week according to the forecast. House is strangely quiet this morning because the dog had to go to the vet early to have her teeth cleaned. Very depressing. I fell on the front steps a couple of days ago and hit my elbow on the corner of the brick planter. It's enough better that I'm going to try to do a little outside work today. Y'all have a great day!
