Yesterday afternoon my wife Janet needed to go to our hospital's stat care facility up the street. She had been complaining of heart palpitations and some difficulty in breathing for a few days and she finally realized that it had to be checked out. From there she was taken by ambulance to the ER. She had very high blood pressure and some fluid in her lungs. Medication brought her blood pressure down, but the fluid problem has to be resolved. Janet's current blood pressure medication that she takes every day isn't flushing excess fluid out of her body and she'll be in the hospital for a few days getting that under control. She'll be okay and I'm thankful that she doesn't have heart problems. We should be on a rewards program at that hospital because this is the second time she's been there for treatment, I had my right hip replaced there, and next month I'll have my left hip replaced there as well. Wishing the very best for you and your wife Russ. Take care and get her well. Dodged a bullet on the 93 highway between Wikiup and Wickenburg. Almost had a head on with an idiot that passed on a curve (no passing zone), no going into the canyon for me. If I die on the road and it is your fault you take the trip with me, I'm not solo canyon diving because you are an idiot. Dang Charlie, that's too close for comfort! I know you already do, but please try to stay safe out there.

Thanks, Terry! I'm heading over to the hospital in about an hour to see how she's doing and get the latest update.

Best to your missus, Russ. Glad it turned out to be something relatively easy to treat.

Heavy rain in the forecast here every day for the next week starting this afternoon. In general, this is good news but is also a challenge as heavy rain means much flooding in the village area. Not entirely my problem to remedy. We shall see how the creek channelizing works out.

Hoping for a speedy recovery. Fluid in the lungs is scary. Killed my grandpa back in 1968. I was with him then. The technology has improved greatly, as you know. Worse case scenario is a drain line. That happened to a friend of mine but it saved his life following an aorta delamination. She will be fine and back home resuming her supervision duties before you know it. I am sure of this. Still, a few prayers for Miss Janet and meditation cannot but help., eh? You got them. Best of luck with the hip replacement. Since you are practiced, should work out fine, too. Thanks, John, I appreciate your encouraging words. Prayers for your wife and continuing prayers for you.

Dropping my mother in law off to the airport in a couple of hours. She’s headed to London to see her grandkids. Later on, dinner and a movie with a buddy. He’s the same fellow I posted earlier about wife passing from cancer. You did give her a list of tobaccos to look for while she's there, right? 😉🤭

Pounding, drenching, rain. Soon the creek will rise, fill the beaver dams and it will be mighty wet for some whose homes are on the flood plain. The forecast is continuous heavy rain for the next seven days. When this happens, I get the calls. Not my problem exactly, I can help to some extent but the creek is not my province. The County, in their usual shirking way, decided NOT to form a Flood Control District. So, there is no emergency response. The County Road Department has ordered their workers and backhoes to stand down and not help homeowners when the creek floods. One of their employees, an equipment operator, who lives here, will sometimes take his County back hoe out to help divert water because he is a MAN with a backbone and a heart.

Unfortunately grandma only has time for the grandkids and I don’t want to interfere. Having said that, did a little research and found pipe tobacco shops that actually had a website carry a lot of “home grown” blends or aros. Would have been a waste. I just hope she remembers to pick up a bottle of Jonnie Blue on the way home.

Family and I finally moved into our new home yesterday. Some work is still being done on the house but I think we're over the hump. I'm very excited. A priest is coming over today to bless the house and my Queridisima was very happy to discover that a late night hotdog cart sets up just 2 blocks away. Congratulations, May you have many blessings in your new home! 🙏 Can you see Mount Popo from the house? Is Puebla still as pretty as it used to be? We're covered in ash from the Popocatepetl volcano! We're living just outside the city center but we can still make out the cathedral from my house. It's lovely here. Now we're trying to get our oldest in nursery school and prepare for our second's birth in around a month. It's been an action packed couple of years!

My two way translator arrived and test trialed it with excellent results. Very excited to take this device with me on my travels as it’s compatible with 40 different languages. Once you download the app, pair it with your phone and talk. It will automatically translate to your desired language and vice versa.

Glad to hear it's still nice. I know that it's grown since 1969. Stay safe. Don't want you to end up in a museum exhibit.

Not only will it translate to your desired language and vice versa, you also get the written version on your phone. I’m assuming this is a back up in case verbal translation is incorrect?

I don’t know anything about it… he just held it up to me, I spoke into it, and it produced Chinese text … he read it and motioned me on.
Pretty neat.

Since the weather's cool, cloudy and damp, it's looking like an inside day. It's an opportunity to get some workshop time in. I've got a couple estates getting the salt and Everclear treatment. I'm also working on a block of briar. I've got it drilled and rough cut. Time to work on the stem and start shaping the stummel.
