I ordered Nacho Daddy via Uber Eats from the hotel the other day, I placed an order for the filet mignon nachos….. my o my, great meal. Trying the Lobster ones next… worth checking out if you are ever in Vegas. Disappointed in BJ Brewhouse via Uber the next night, they threw the slab of ribs on top of the fries, so all of the fries were coated in bbq sauce. oh no! major fail.

Homemade tortillas with Hormel Chili con carne on top and some USDA Select Grade Chuck Steak bits. Jeez, "bits" is all I can chew of that old boot leather! Here is a tip, skip USDA Select Grade beef, if possible.

A large chicken in the oven. Appears to be a Stewing bird. Hope it comes out of the oven without being too tough. Slow cooking for two hours. Not a Capon. Two of these big birds and a large package of frozen Pollock given to me by a neighbor who ran out of LPG to run his freezer. He is off the power grid as are many of my neighbors over the border in Colorado.

The tortillas I made turned into Hardtack. Aye, Matey. Left them in the oven to warm too long. Still good, though.

Chicken sandwich from the bird roasted earlier this past evening. Ginger Ale. No lettuce as I have not been to a store in a week. I need to sprout some alfalfa in one of my sprouting jars. Home grown vegies in winter.

Albertson’s had Bnls pork butt for .99 per lb. no limit, we bought two until we could confirm freezer space for more in either freezer and we did not.😕
Going to make Carnitas and beans with sofrito, homemade tortillas later today.

I have an intense dislike for the serrated monstrosities that are provided for a steak when eating out. They rip and tear rather than cut. So I bring my own tools. Either an A. G. Russell creation (folding) or a Böker fixed blade. both are “scary sharp” as they say. Do they make the steak taste better? Oh, yes. Without a doubt!

Shape, scales, scrollwork, etc. I don't use a pocket knife at restaurants, but I do use an Opinel folder for slicing cheese at home.

O cooked tonight. Shrimp Alfredo. Turned out pretty good. Added some Lemon Thyme that I grew last summer to the Alfredo sauce. Gave it a very light lemon flavor which complemented the shrimp - and the Marlborough Valley Sauvignon Blanc.
Wife loved it, but then, she loves anything she doesn't have to cook.

So many times there wasn't really a choice but lately it's been buying nothing but a "straight" blade. After buying a knife sharpener with a small belt, I actually removed tha serration from one pocket knife. Turned out pretty nice. If I had the knives here at my new home, I'd post photos. Maybe in the future. I told my wife that the next set of steak knives we buy will be without serrations.

If you buy steaks that require serrations on the knife, it is probably time to change butcher shops.
