Lunch was a Nathan's Famous 1/4 pound dog with mustard, relish on a Bolita roll. Big improvement over those puny commercial made hot dog buns. I have dry rub pork ribs sitting around waiting for the Weber. And a Game Hen.

A rack of pork ribs. a game hen and foil wrapped corn on the cob on the Weber. Indirect, of course, with hickory chips. The wind makes this challenging but I am optimistic all will turn out fine. A Gin & Tonic accompanies the effort. I am wearing shooting ear protection because of the highway noise.

Dinner was chili dogs made with Koegel Viennas on the grill, Tony Packo's Dog Sauce, plus sliced Claussen kosher dills, yellow mustard, chopped onion, and shredded mild cheddar on Aunt Millie's Honey Stadium Buns.

Sadly, I cannot eat any of it. Sick to my stomach as usual. Sigh. Tomorrow is another day, maybe then?

BLT with a thin layer of homemade guacamole spread triple deck club style, the bacon was Hormel black label that was on sale, the rest of the bacon was crumbled into the guacamole.
Good stuff!

Sadly, the worst has happened. The Red River Rally has turned into a gun battle with many dead and wounded. The hospital in Taos is in lockdown owing to the numbers of people brought in. People here are calling for the NM Army Guard to be mobilized.

People here are calling for the NM Army Guard to be mobilized. The Town of Taos is under curfew. Questa and RR are in trouble. 400 bikers, some say more like a thousand, mobbing the gas station in town. Some people are calling for the Governor to deploy the NM Army Guard to help restore order.

Geez, John. What a mess. Hope you can stay well clear of it. Insufficient planning and support from the State and County governments. The report I read said 40 LEOs to handle a crowd of 25,000. The attendees are not Church Ladies. They are want-to-be hard cases. hard to imagine the dumb stuff they do on their way to RR. The Mayor of Red River's comments are interesting: " Always, when there's that big of a group in town, you know 25,000 people, there's the possibility that something could happen." So, I wonder why they were not better prepared? Apparently, considerable delay in getting ambulances to transport the wounded to the hospital in Taos, 45 miles away. The hospital had to go on police lockdown owing to threats. The Town of Taos imposed a 10:00 PM curfew and banned all liquor sales. Just what is not wanted on a holiday weekend, eh?

I know a couple of county sheriff's departments that would've been okay with it. On the way back from my nephew's wedding, 2 of them had thrown up a roadblock to check for sobriety. They said they'd already had one accident. I wanted to say, "Stopping both lanes of traffic and backing everybody up for 20 minutes while you check every single car for sobriety seems like a major overreaction to one accident," but I held my tongue. Anyway, hope order is restored soon in your neck of the woods.

“ but I held my tongue.”… a good practice when dealing with cops. I generally get along well with LEO’s, but that doesn’t mean that I agree with all their practices, and the sobriety checkpoints reek of “show me your papers”. We are treated under more suspicion than an MS13 gang member taking up residency.

I'm sure black motorists agree with you, since they appeared to be the only ones getting pulled aside for extended examination.

Avocados are on sale so I made a huge batch of guacamole yesterday, added some slow cooked bacon… yes bacon makes most things better.
Hint: when making guacamole and refrigerating it, toss the Pyrex cover on the bowl and use Saran Wrap draped over like a sheet, chasing the air out, trapped air is not a friend of guacamole…That along with lemon or lime juice will keep it green and not brown. Stainless bowls are reactive to the acid in the lemon or lime… use glass or plastic.

Never tried putting bacon into Guac.
