Unfortunately, living in the greater Phoenix area decent wood for cooking comes at a high price. Therefore, I cheat. I start off with wood in the firebox for a few hours, transition to coals in the cooking chamber, and it takes very little coal to maintain °225 in the cooking chamber.
If I lived in Oakville California like Ted, I would use strictly oak.

Sounds like you use it a little bit more like a charcoal smoker, Charlie, where they put some blocks of hardwood in with the coals.
A quick search says half to fully seasoned oak is $100-150 for about a third of a cord, around here. That seems like it would work out to some pretty expensive meals.

A Weber is all you really need. Go with the larger one if their regular size is too small. 26 inch diameter? Get the motorized rotisserie for sure.

A pork shoulder takes me about 2 chimneys of charcoal (not the briquettes!) and a mix of chunks and chips of various hardwoods. I like a mix of hickory and cherry.

Those are heavy and fragile, no? I know that they are heavy, but I don't know if they are fragile. They actually make a copy that I think I'm going to get that's made the same, but instead of ceramic or whatever, they are made of triple walled steel. I'm curious what brand has triple steel walls, Ron. I haven't seen one. I've seen double, but not triple.

I need to get a grill. Tired of dropping buffalo steaks on hot coals. Too much crunchy stuff on ‘em.

Over a cord of big chunks Cedar for kindling. Got lots more Oak over at the ranch to cut and split.

living alone, swapped my 4-burner CharBroil outdoor to guy who does some of my yard work. Small indoor G.Forman can hold 2 avg size beef patties, only cook one at a time. ClubCadet mower & trimmer have served me well for long time. same fella does the maintenance on them & the snowblower.

I think I've got analysis paralysis on all forms of outdoor appliances. I'm vapor locked.
Anybody used or know much about the PK grills?

Well, it's a Makita mower and trimmer, and a Weber Kettle. In both cases, it was the combination of features, after-market, and price that did the trick.
Thanks for all the input.

I personally am looking forward to throwing a pork shoulder on my Weber and pushing my mower around the yard. I have about a month of waiting before I can do that up here.

Can't say I'm looking forward to using the mower in my climate, but the grass has to be cut, and this one will make it reasonably painless to do. The grill is a more interesting implement.

Garbage pickup today, potting my muckers on wife fussed at me said go sit down Old Man I’ll put out the trash. Damn that hurts as much as the pulled muscle!🤨

Well, no, actually. I'm not getting a Makita mower. It got damaged in shipping and returned, never making it to me. Home Depot wasn't willing to expedite a replacement, so now I have a Milwaukee mower. I have one of their angle grinders that uses the same batteries, so I guess that works out okay, aside from the aggravation and delay.
They told me I could keep the Makita trimmer, no charge. Not sure what I'll do with a trimmer I have no batteries for. Either sell it or buy some batteries, I guess.
