To try to clarify the last sentence of the post, I smoked cigs, quit because of my lung condition. I went to pipes & cigars because I could still smoke & enjoy without inhaling. Do so everyday & like it but I personally, never thought of it as a hobby, like fishing, photography, shooting etc. I need a hobby!
The Patch might qualify? Probably, but I do like pipes & cigars. I didn't smoke anything for several years after quiting cigs. Wife quit cigs the those electronic cig Blu.

I tried to start a North Houston pipe club in the Woodlands area. I was corresponding with about 10 pipe guys in the area who were interested, but we could never find a time to meet that worked for all of us. I only ever met up with desolbones . We spent a very pleasant afternoon BSing and puffing at a Starbucks. My experience with the pipe club is the same as the family reunion in Colorado Springs in 2024. You set a date and a time without getting a consensus, the people that truly want to get together will. You just have to take the bull by the horns… not a criticism, just an observation on having been there done that. Wise words indeed Charlie.

Never considered pipe or cigar smoking as a hobby.
Never considered cigs one either before I quit.
