Slow to get this up here, but here it goes:
Greg from the Cleveland area. Great grand-dad piped, my dad piped here and there and cigared a good bit. Like the process, the routine, the atmosphere and the taste of pipe and cigar tobaccos. Like the comradere with it too. Getting more into collecting some, but mostly got some and looking to do restorations as a hobby and side-gig. Got the stuff to work em and enjoying the practice. Looking to get the tips from others, the ideas for new smokes, feedback on piping well (my bowls tend to run hot, for example) and finding the best blends for me (enjoy aromatics mostly, but willing to expand... like virginias and burleys...)

Welcome aboard. We have some of all of those topics around here, so you should be able to find help/tips/answers.
As for running hot, usually the key is just to slow down. Sometimes the way you pack the pipe can contribute to a hotter smoke, too. If you have trouble keeping lit when you slow down, you probably need to either set out a bowlful of tobacco and let it dry a while before smoking it (aro's, especially, tend to be wet out of the tin/bag/jar), or adjust your pack. You may be packing the bowl too tight.
Anyway, plenty of experienced pipers here to help out, most of them far more experienced than I am.

Hey, Greg. Are you familiar with Dad's Smoke Shop in Kamm's Corner, or Robusto & Briar in Lakewood?
