Okay, ever since learning about these things I've been prowling around trying to find one... Which isn't an easy task as you can imagine. So I've decided that perhaps my only course of action is to make one myself. My only question/issue is the hose. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of hose would be best? It doesn't need to be anything fancy since I'm probably just making this for myself.

Haha, I love the picture on the Good Night Pipe box. I have no suggestions but I'm very interested to see what you come up with.

I know I thought the box art was awesome... I was talking to my wife about it last night and showing her the pictures and she said the same thing. I was specifically told I wasn't allowed to use it in bed but otherwise she thought it was a cool idea.

I think a hookah (sic) hose would work.

Yeah that was the direction I was headed I think... The most important thing is that it doesn't taste funny.

I'm pretty sure that the old pipes had rubber hoses. I'm not sure what the newer hookah hoses use. Could be rubber or, more likely, polyethylene tubing which should be OK. Replacing the hookah bit with a real pipe stem or small ring size cigar holder should be easy enough.

It looks like a good pipe to use with the War Horse plug...it keeps you from having to be carried to bed.

Hookah parts should do fine. I would go for a silicone tube as rubber might taste funny.

I want it so I can smoke my Samuel Gawith Black XX while I lay on the floor... Just to keep from falling down in the first place!

Please let me know when you find another of those pipes so that I don´t need to give my Black XX aways like the last time! You can always send it my way... I love that crazy stuff!

That's a damn cool pipe, Clint. Not my speed, but always love seeing unique offerings like this.

Thanks Phil... Chris Morgan is a member of the Scoundrels Pipe club so I will be sure to pick his brain about it more. He already gave me some tips on the hose he used yesterday when I was asking about it... I don't think I'm ready to bust out something like the Smokebox he created but it's definitely something to shoot for. Honestly I just like the novelty of this thing. I think maybe this spring/summer I might have to look into making something like this just for the hell of it. I might not use it all that often but it would be a cool addition and a definite conversation started.

I saw one of these in my local B&M about a year ago. The guy had used hookah hose to replace the original. The pipe was his dad's and had seen considerable use. It was pretty cool.

I just saw an estate table pipe on the German Ebay only that it had four hoses.

Talk about desktop pipes, here is a huge Meerschaum desktop made by F.J. Kaldenberg around 1880.

Holy cow, now you just have to find 4 smokers who can agree on one blend!
