I'm just shy of 100 pipes, I think, and about equal pounds of tobacco. All pipes smoke a pound at a time, right? I'm sure I read that somewhere.

A few hundred pipes and just over 600 pounds of tobacco. That is not a hedge against tobacco-flation, that is a Great Wall!

A few hundred pipes and just over 600 pounds of tobacco. That is not a hedge against tobacco-flation, that is a Great Wall! At my current rate of consumption, it's just over 43 years worth without ever have paying more than $5/ounce for any of it. Even on sale tins are now more than I'm willing to pay for them and I've reached the point of never having to buy more.

Preface this with I bought my first pipe 40 years ago…
Pipes - About 120 to 125 that I smoke. Another 100 to 125 which are either retired or collection pieces. I collect Malaga pipes which were made in the metro Detroit area and have probably the world's largest collection with between 75 and 100.
Tobacco- A little over 175 pounds.

A few hundred pipes and just over 600 pounds of tobacco. I would love to see a picture of 600lbs of tobacco. That would be an epic sight! Not as impressive as it sounds. A long six drawer dresser full of tins and a closet jammed full of jars. Each jar has a pound of tobacco in it that I compressed with a modified caulk gun to save space. A lot of what I smoke is just out of pound bulk bags that I've never gotten around to jarring. All of the photos predate 2018 so it's grown somewhat since then. Hopefully enough nicotine to last me until I'm ashes.

170 or 175 solid pipes in action, and 20 or thirty retired or waiting to be restored, gifted or traded...maybe 10 pounds of tobacco at the most.

I know I know, compared to some of you I am a piker. Been smoking pipe on and off since the late 70s, serious commitment in the late 90s. Very serious commitment last ten years. This web site has not helped. I have a little over 50 briars. I tend to by two or three of any pipe I like, so I can smoke two in a row without waiting. (I never smoke a pipe twice in a row.) I have a bunch of cobs and clays. I don't cellar but I do accumulate a little. I would guess 20 some odd tins and a couple of jars. I am not prepared for the coming tobaccapocalypse, but I do have several each of what I like.

No idea what you're getting at though the shot of the jars is in a closet. When organized it's five 5x6 rows of 4 jar trays with each jar containing 1 pound of tobacco. By itself 600 pounds not counting the tins, tubs, or bulk bags. But if we're just being weird, I've got screen shots of unusual books that were listed on ebay for several years for some reason.

What I shoot for is that there is always tobacco there when I want to smoke. Like coffee, I need coffee now, and I need the promise that there will be coffee available. Energy charge and capacity charge.
I have enough of the one's I like so that if the company decides to discontinue it I am set for at least a while.
Now if buying tobacco were to really become illegal, that is a disaster I am not prepared for.
