Same here, no crowds, stopped watching idiotic TV hash of the new year, wife always next day cooks black eye peas and cabbage for luck, kids hated it as they had to eat one bite.

After spending most of the week sick in bed I’ll be at the pipe shop hopefully watching the Vikings kick the Packers arse with the guys.

Once again, as in ‘22, we will be saying a grateful and perhaps overdue goodbye to 2023. Another annus horribilus. This is getting tiresome.

I don’t really do anything on New Year’s Eve. Doesn’t mean anything to me. We will go visit my folks on the 1st though. Dad always made up his clam chowder and all my brothers, myself and families would drop in to eat, watch football and enjoy each other’s company. I think my father’s cooking days are done. Maybe one of my brothers will take it on. Hoping to see my grand-kids on Sunday or Monday. They bring us infinite joy.

Two granddaughters age 9 and a 2year old will spend the night while daughter and son in law go to the Improv.
I think we are going to make popcorn balls with the girls at night, make waffles new years day.
I head back to Vegas on the 2nd.

Does Hoppin John count for good luck? I have a can on hand and some andouille. I will head up to San Luis, CO to Mrs Rios Thai Kitchen for dinner with friends and then home to avoid the burrachos on the road. I am past the age for celebrations of the new year. So, I may open a bottle of Port and smoke a Romeo y Julieta Double Corona. Early to bed.

Nothing special either, no family close by, the ol' gals might do a little something with me invited, otherwise maybe two IPA for a change!

Well be at home. Sister and brother-in-law, daughter and son-in-law coming over. All making a bunch of food for the festivities. We'll be playing card/table games while we whoop it up.

Cabbage is for money. We picked up 2 big heads.

We'll be having a quiet night at home as always. From age 14 through 21 I had to work every New Year's Eve through the 2nd with no breaks. My favorite activity is always a quiet night at home. We don't watch football or any sports.

Simple, simple, simple. We've both been under the weather for much of December, so we're more up for rest than celebration. We will probably have black-eyed peas for luck, and might do some little observance for granddaughter's sake, but at 4 1/2 she's not thinking about late-night parties yet. If I'm feeling really frisky I'll follow Ed's example and have an IPA or two.

Inviting some people over as always. At midnight I toss my 2023 cob into the fire pit and light up my new 2024 cob.

I'm home from the family Xmas do and plan to just chill for New Year's.

I hope everyone made the crossover into 2024 safe and well. We slept late, had a steak & egg brunch, and plan on the usual black-eyed peas and stewed tomatoes this evening, salmon and a few shrimp on the side.

New Years day ended with a flop...hiccups began a few hours before supper, along with three trips to the bathroom. I managed to eat 1/4 of my supper with a few Tumms. I tried to lay down, but my rest was broken with eight bouts of back-door two step, followed by the most violent cookie toss in my memory...I know this way more than you need to know, but now you know why I'm just now getting here. Bad as it sounds, I left out lots of grim details. Anyway, I survived, but at one point I think I saw that bright light everybody talks about, and I can say for sure it's the sickest I've been in years. Hope you luck was much better!

Ick, Herb. Sounds like you're talking about it in the past tense, at least. Hope you're back up to 100% soon.
Some kind of allergy, Ron?
