Good Morning and Welcome to January and 2024! It's 31° here with a cloudy sky and a light coating of snow on the wet ground. Yeah, yeah, I'm up and finally in the workshop now. Thanks for opening up, John. I slept in because I needed a good night's rest. Both my wife and I don't drink, so we didn't whoop it up last night. This afternoon I have some phone calls to make and then just goof off. Starting the smoking day with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the smooth bent Amorelli Three Star and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket. A Happy New Year to you all!

Good Morning Again! It's right at the freezing mark here with a light snow flurry. Finishing up this bowl of Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake in the Amorelli; a fine smoke in a fine pipe and next up will be a bowl of Straight Grain Flake. Time to check the headline news while I sip my coffee.

Just lit up a bowl of Scottish Flake in the Amorelli while watching another streaming video and sipping my coffee. Last smoke here in the workshop before heading back to the house.

Derby Club Aromatic in a Savinelli with C.N. i77,followed by 707 in gold leaf, on the underside...It's my second bowl of the year, as I was up with the pups at 4am, and smoked God knows what in a Grabow Viscount before returning to bed. Like Russ and his bride, we don't drink, so my eyes and head are as close to normal as they ever are...in my youth I thought nothing of starting a new year in a drunken haze, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of wisdom behind that way of life these days, for me anyway.

Balkan Supreme in a cob. Company should be here in about an hour. We are smoking a beef tenderloin for dinner. I screwed up the Christmas roast, so I am looking for redemption today! Happy new year!

Good afternoon All! I trust you survived last night in good shape. Woke up this morning to a stray kitten on the front porch. This is the third such critter to attach themselves to our humble abode. The wife on the other hand is less than pleased as the owner of the house, (Salem, her all black cat), started to howl and hiss when she tried to bring it in. So tomorrow it's off to the humane society if they are open and accepting cats. Meanwhile I am in the office working on tomorrows conference and smoking some 965 Match in a Kaywoodie Drinkless Bent Dublin shape... A large black coffee alongside... Have a wonderful New Years Day!

Glad to help out Russ! I know how much you like to open things up, but, it was an honor to serve in your absence. Not much in the celebration lines goes on in our house either. I would have been in bed but was watching a very interesting Ms. Marple movie and was trying to see how she got to the decision she did. Agatha Christy never disappoints! All of the revelers shot up all their fireworks early so it was quiet when the time came.

Thanks, Russ. It's a little hard to tell from the angle of that pic, but it is a cutty. That's actually why I don't smoke it more. I don't love the way the bowl angles away from me.

The festivities of this holiday season are concluded. Today has been a day of rest and relaxation. I've had several bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Monday cob. Hoping you all have a Happy New Year!
