Country fried steak, mashed potatoes, side salad, iced tea. @ Denny’s, making my way home.
Quite a herd of good looking Hispanic waitresses… excellent server too. She gets a big tip from the boss!

Remedy’s tavern in Henderson Nevada. Chili w/ cheese and onions, cornbread. Hot wings. Long island iced tea. You're getting old for a steady diet of hot wings. I'm making some tonight but I'll have to eat them early.

I'm making some tonight but I'll have to eat them early. I wanted to eat something better, every restaurant near the hotel was a casino/ tavern fare. A great sounding Italian restaurant, but it is a mile away from the hotel. The truck has to be stationary for 10 hours, and the puter will rat me out. The wings went into the fridge, came home… might eat them tomorrow.

Lunch was Red chile pork enchiladas and two tacos from a favorite stand in Taos, "Mary Jane's".
Dinner was fried chicken legs from a market. Done right, crispy and tender inside. With a large green salad.

Breakfast was a Chicken Fried Pork Steak, aka, "Jäegar Schnitzel", two eggs, tomato slice, and polenta grits with cheddar cheese and chopped green chile. Good it was, too!

How big of an area grows official Hatch chilis? All the stores around here are pushing them. Bins with hot, medium and mild peppers, not to mention cans, jars, frozen and as ingredients in other canned and frozen foods. The bakery in the Brookshires grocery is making Hatch chili tortillas every day. It seems strange as there are very few Hispanic people around here.

Benihanas in Chandler for lunch today on my day off, my son and granddaughter came down from Utah for their birthdays.
The chefs are very skilled, and funny, the food was very good.
Steak, Shrimp, scallops, fried rice, sushi, California roll, and assortment of vegetables.

Gyros and saganaki at a Greek festival. Hard to beat that. I used to service a Greek restaurant in Carmel Ca., it was so good!, my introduction to Gyros. In the San Jose area, there are a lot of Greek restaurants that sucessfully straddle the line of offering Greek and American food, in both they always excel in quality and size of meals. Very successful restauranteurs. We go to the yearly Greek festival in Chandler hosted by the Greek Orthodox church, always a palate pleaser. Found a Greek restaurant in Summerlin/ Las Vegas for work, I love to eat there, but have to tread lightly to stay in the company budget. I say all this to say, I am not one to generalize about anyones race, but I think the Greek people are maybe the Olympians of food, and management of restaurants, they set the bar pretty high!

Just wanted to add…
Woe to any foodservice salesman that is not honest with dealing with Greek restauranteurs … I have seen more than one cheap suit land an account on agreed prices and think they can slowly sneak up the price, or sub a lower quality product on a premium priced one.
That dog just ain't gonna hunt. 😂

This is for all New Mexico chilis, many grown in other states. In Dona Ana country where Hatch Valley is located plants about 2400 acres, producing about 28000 tons of chilis,or 5.6 million pounds. I was wondering if there were actually enough actual Hatch-grown chilis to make up the amount I was seeing. It certainly looks possible.

Gyros and saganaki at a Greek festival. We used to go to the Greek festival at St George's in Houston every year. Wife and I were there for the food, but my son was there for Greek girl dancers. We have to drive 54 miles for gyros. For real Greek food we have to drive Shreveport, 65 miles. One way.

There is a Greek restaurant in Albuquerque I would like to visit. I so seldom go that far. 180 miles one way is a lot. We used to drive 160 miles one way to eat at Sylvia Mae's Soul Food in Jacksonville Texas. She has since moved. It's a 130 mile round trip to get good Greek food in Shreveport.
