You forgot the !$#!@ coon. My sincere condolences to the wild Racoon craftily unplugging the freezer that the plug had not been Racoon proofed. I was going to blame the occurrence on the host of other wild critters like the crafty turkeys.

The freezer door got accidentally left open a little bit, and unlike our old GE freezer that lasted 30+years, this one doesn't have an alarm. Most of the stuff we lost hadn't been in there that long, no more than 6 months. We didn't throw out any steaks as I figured a little more aging wouldn't hurt. About to take a couple of sirloin strips out of the bag now. I had the same experience, now my freezer handle has the key tethered on it… mandatory door lock each time we forage for frozen. Upright freezer. I've never seen one with a lock. Friends always has chest freezers and I have nightmares from the frostbite I got looking for the ice cream. I helped defrost several. No thank you. This has a magnetic door seal as the only latch because, you know, Darwin.

Out for a smoke between downpours. It is darn pleasant out here right now. Perfect 75. Perfect breeze. Mixed clouds and sunlight. And after this morning's rain, there is a lot of honeysuckle somewhere nearby putting off enough fragrance to bottle and sell.

I mentioned a few days ago I had bumblebees bumbling around the flowers along my back fence, and I considered it a positive development. Now I have a yellow jacket doing the same. It's a development I'm less excited about.

Another visit from my friendly neighborhood bumblebee while I watch a little bird (not sure what kind) give all kinds of hell to a trio of crows. Go get 'em, little buddy!

The tress are budding— at about the time they usually do that. A very nice day here, in the low 70s, with a lovely gentle breeze. A good time to sit on the deck with the dogs, smoke a cigar, have a toddy, and think Great Thoughts. In just a few cogitation cycles I have managed to solve all the world’s many problems. It only remains for me to be put in charge, so to speak. What are the odds of that? I think it prudent not to hold my breath.

Pretty cool picture, Bob.
My take-way, there is a supreme power in the heavens and all is well.

I believe in a supreme power but I do not believe that all is well.

I had a huge black bumblebee hovering around my head the other day… looked harmless and a rare sight in the southwest. Looks better than a hornet/ wasp/ yellowjacket/ scorpion/ rattler.
That bee seemed like an old friend!

That bee seemed like an old friend! They are definitely not harmless. I have seen a person stung by a bumblebee and it was awful. Their saving grace is that they aren't aggressive at all. You have to accidentally interfere with it to get stung. Yellow jackets are bastard. Luckily, with bumblebees and yellow jackets live in the ground so they are fairly easy to keep away from the house.

This one today hung around barely a foot from me for a couple hours. He was interested in something about the fence where it meets the corner of the house, which is just beside/behind my left shoulder. Couldn't have been less interested in me. I wouldn't have known he was there if his aerial apparatus wasn't so loud.

Great start to the morning. Wife had rogue programs on her computer as soon as I got up, before coffee. Then both internet connections went wonky. Reboot everything 4 times. Trying to decide whether to drink coffee or go back to bed.

Pest control man came today for the yearly termite inspection, wife and I informed him of the young copperhead snake found in the flowers next to the house, my German gal put,old clothes on and with a long stick and strong flashlight went under the house with him. He said no customer had ever done that, told him if he was my son I would wish they would help him with his safety. No Snake, good report, told office manager what a fine job the young man had done. I can’t crawl anymore or I would have gone Golden Years💩!

I make good use of my ability to say “Sorry, I don’t do that anymore.” I do that for outsiders, unless they really touch my heart hard. Around the house, it's harder to say no.

On this date in 1900, railroad engineer Casey Jones died in a train collision, one hand on the brake and one hand on his screaming whistle.
83 degrees and 74% humidity in NE Texas today. Just taking it easy today after spending all day yesterday in the dentist's chair and the bad start today.

Just taking it easy today after spending all day yesterday in the dentist's chair and the bad start today. We had a nasty train wreck at the NM/ Arizona border… a dozen cars with propane and other fuels jumped the track and sparked…one of my colleagues had a paid day to hang at the hotel in Gallup.

He likes the fact that I might be facing the Clanton’s in Tombstone tomorrow…shady cat all around! That's just my way of noting that I read the post and to know at a glance where I left off, Charlie. I had my cc hacked a few times by someone doing the paperwork at a local supermarket. Card companies have 24 hour numbers for reporting these things. It stinks.

Nah. Coalsmoke is cool. Send the squad after the hackers.
Got an email from the CC outfit. “Is this yours?” Called them right away. Nope. Not mine. Great service. New card on Thursday. Now to notify everybody else. A hassle, but not a tragedy by any means.

Yeah just razzin CS!, it stinks that there are lowlifes…. Once my wife left her wallet on the pedestal next to the customer terminal at a grocery store.
Another time a pick pocket at Kohls.
Neither time we were “On the hook”, but it sucks that scumbags got free stuff.

Even so, having to deal with unauthorized use of your cc is a real PITA especially when the card has to be reissued. After my ordeal with the supermarket cc crook, I had to do the same of changing the cc number of record on all of the websites for my suppliers, utilities, etc.
