I had a disappointing start to my smoking today. In keeping with wanting to get out of my pipe rut, it crossed my mind that I haven’t been smoking any clays for at least three years and I had bought one just before I set them aside that looked really fun. So I decided to get that one out and fire it up. I got it out of the box and set it down next to me while I put the box back and it slipped and fell about a foot, but that was all it took. I could have grabbed another clay, but I was annoyed, so I grabbed this Butz Choquin Chambord. Needs a bit of a polish on the silver and Cumberland stem (which I’ve always liked on a pipe) but otherwise it was ready to go. I’m smoking Royal Yacht in it and have been this afternoon. Twas a fine looking claywarden. 😔

Too bad about the clay, but that's a nice B-C.

Gorgeous pipe, Urb! I’m smoking some Z92 with a generous dollop of Latakia in my Pete sandblast Pub. Excellent! How's that latakia treating you? It’s treating me well. I included 2 oz in my order just placed. Along with some burley.

Time for a trip to London with that clay. You can toss it in the Thames for some future mudlark to find.

Had a bowl of Friar's Bayou in the Friday cob while out and about. Also, went out for dinner instead of cooking. My after-dinner smoke is Haunted Bookshop in the same pipe.

I imagine that they were all familiar with the experience. “Damn, I liked that pipe” was probably said a lot.

Learned about burning my fingerprints into the clay real fast. They looked good on the mantel until the cats got curious.

I used to smoke them quite often but one day I was smoking an antique one, it was a Queen Elizabeth 50 years jubilee pipe. I wasn’t thinking and I wrapped my hand around the bowl at what must have been peak heat. I had a reverse image of VR branded on my palm for weeks afterwards.

A little too much at the pub, and a pipe on the way home, and yow!

I imagine that they were all familiar with the experience. “Damn, I liked that pipe” was probably said a lot. It's still fully smokable. They used to break off the stems all the time and keep smoking them.

Good Saturday Morning! It's 34° and mostly cloudy here right now. This afternoon I have to do some laundry and then get some more postcard work done. Just lit up my first pipe, a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake, in the BBB Freestyle smooth bent pot and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket. Have a great weekend everybody!
