In all my many yrs (since 1962) at it, can't recall even one "perfect", all were satisfying provided baccy is quite dry & pipe(s) reasonably clean, just good smokes. Same with cigars, must be luck in some cases

95% of my smokes I hate to put down. I have a settled bunch of tobaccos and pipes so I expect a good smoke when I start. The only time I have an issue is when I pick up a blend to check if I still hate it. I have a bunch of Escudo. It was all the rage back when I picked up the pipe again so I took other people's word for it. Still hate it.

I can honestly say, I haven't smoked a blend yet that I truly hated, but there are a few I wasn't crazy about; it's funny how people's palates differ and change over time. I have a tin of Solani ABF jarred up, tried a few bowls when I first bought it, couldn't get into it at all. That was a few years back, I must hunt it out again and see if anythings changed..ie, me,

The way I remember it…
"How old do you think I am? " he said. I said, well, I didn't know. He said, "I turned 65 about 11 months ago."
I was sittin' in Miami pourin' blended whiskey down When this old gray black gentleman was cleanin' up the lounge
There wasn't anyone around 'cept this old man and me The guy who ran the bar was watchin' "ironsides" on tv Uninvited, he sat down and opened up his mind On old dogs and children and watermelon wine.
Seriously, one of my best smokes was sitting with Greg Pease smoking some Union Square, hanging with Mark Ryan, and Jiminks. Certainly at our pipe club meetings, and quite often at a hospitable hotel for smokers, playing music and relaxing after along day, especially up in Monument Valley at sunset.
No rhyme or reason, when it happens, it happens.

I'll try to remember to look for the tins.
