Have any of you gentlemen had someone mistake your pipe for a weed pipe? I often smoke a cob while fishing and had some high school looking kids ask me what I was smoking. I explained I was smoking a corncob pipe. Then they asked if they could get a hit and what strain it was.
I told them they could absolutely not put their mouth on my pipe and I do not smoke weed. I told them a brief history of corn cob pipes and continued walking to the lake. They still seemed to be certain I actually had weed in the pipe.
This is the third person that has assumed my corncob is a weed pipe while I have been out and about in public. I never have this issue with briar.
Anyone else have similar experiences? I know MM sells weed pipes now but I didn’t expect corn cobs to be heavily associated with it. Maybe people just assume anyone smoking is smoking the less noble weed.

Oh yeah! It happened to me back in the late '70s. I was taking a break from work, went out the back door. I had a conventional briar pipe with me and was enjoying an aromatic blend, nothing a knowledgeable person would mistake for pot.
But sure enough, a neighbor crossed the street and confronted me. I merely said with as much disdain in my voice as I could muster that he didn't know much about pipe tobacco, nor pot, either. He went back home, tail tucked between his legs.

Nah ... my weed pipes look totally different. 😅 Just curious, have you tried the MM cornabis pipes? Do they pose any advantages or disadvantages over glass? If this isn’t an allowed topic please disregard. I don’t have first hand experience with marijuana but plenty of my friends smoked it in college though they have mostly moved onto pens now. My understanding is that it gets quite messy and stinky. You want to use something like glass so you can clean it thoroughly. A material like cob seems like it would soak some of it and pose more difficulty to get clean. Any thoughts on that?

Only once and ironically enough it was with a cigar. Guy rolls down his window and yells out "damn that's a big arse blunt"

Haven't had anyone mistake my pipe for a weed burner, but I have had people ask me, upon finding out I smoke a pipe, "You mean weed?"

Not smoking… But when I started taking snuff, I used the czech tool spoon. Sitting at a Quiktrip (convenience store) and notice a Sheriffs deputy watching me. He just shook his head…😂

She liked it, but had to get her some extra screens.

If I lived someplace where folks just automatically assumed I was smoking MaryJane in my pipe I think I’d consider moving.

Play nice Bob and Darin Texas is the third largest state so we have lots of prisons! Another mass school smoking! 😅 Now that is funny, like when you can spout off more alcohol brands than a liquor store owner and call ganja, Mary Jane. I will let you decide which one destroys more lives and families.

I did see a vegan in body paint riding bicycle back wards while playing a bongo, Austin is awfully weird and proud of it, they got bumper sticker and stuff.

Interesting, it’s been legal in Michigan as medical for fifteen + years and legal recreationally for five. No one even pays attention or cares here.
Just to throw in my two cents into the potentially controversial topic 😃 Nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, THC, Psilocybin, (also decriminalized in much of Michigan), are all drugs, no more or less than each other. The only difference between them is acceptance. Self righteousness is the real enemy. I don’t smoke weed btw, never cared for it personally.

I agree about self-righteousness. Sometimes the most self righteous are the anti-self-righteous.

To anyone above who had a problem with Texas legal system. Texas doesn't care. You don't see protesters supporting Hamas, or Antifa doing anything here. We hope to keep it that way.

I do find it somewhat funny and unfortunate that our enjoyment of tobacco is looked at as a “greater evil” than the other thing being discussed here by a substantial portion of society anymore.

I do find it somewhat funny and unfortunate that our enjoyment of tobacco is looked at as a “greater evil” than the other thing being discussed here by a substantial portion of society anymore. It seems understandable enough, to me. Tobacco is associated with a giant industry that knew it was making cancer sticks and lied to everyone about it for decades, meanwhile manipulating their product to keep it as addictive as they could possibly make it. Marijuana is only mildly associated in most people's minds with the illegal drug trade, I think. Mostly it's just associated with goofy stoner movies.

“ Have any of you gentlemen had someone mistake your pipe for a weed pipe?” Back in the 70’s one look at me and I did not need to be holding a pipe for people to properly assume.
Getting married and DOT laws changed all of that between the wife and John Law it was time for me to hang it up!
I don’t miss it, am not offended by those that partake though… (I am not one of those former cigarette smoking nazi’s)😉
I think that everything put on God’s green earth was put here for man to enjoy, but there is individual responsibility on what you do with it.
