Garden raised anything is better than store bought, the tomatoes really excel in the home garden.
Look tasty, Pete!

Those look good and I don't normally like tomatoes outside of a sauce. that's probably because I only had the crappy store bought ones

If he does not respond in time, I hear he likes fermented tomato toppings on Captain Black Grape.

Your photo makes me miss my garden. The pink ones look like beefsteak, we used to love them and Mortgage Lifters; both real meaty, and one slice from a mortgage Lifter would cover a slice of bread.
Good job, Pete.

Your photo makes me miss my garden. I was thinking the exact same thing. This is the first year in my adult life that I have not had a garden. I always took pictures of the first harvest of whatever every year but these are the most recent tomatoes that I could find.

I’m really enjoying seeing the tomatoes. It’s been too long since I grew them and I do miss tomatoes like these right off the plant. Nice job!

Just now seeing this thread, Pete. A Kellogg’s Breakfast tomato, which I should have taken another picture when it was fully ripe, but imagine it’s bright orange. bowl full of San Marzano, Nyagous on top of a Wittmore Heirloom, a banana, and a Sudduth’s strain Brandywine. A sliced Vintage Wine. a 1lb, 10oz (26 ounce) Wittmore Heirloom.

A picture from last season. The green tiger-striped are Vintage Wine, the yellow/red rainbowed one is a Ukrainian Azoychka, below it yellow with red blush is a Golden Queen, all the little yellow ones in the box and to the right are Wapsipinicon Peach tomatoes. Far right small red is a Peach Suttton Blow. The Peach Sutton and the Wapsipinicon peaches are fuzzy like a peach. The two big reds the tin is sitting on are Sudduth’s original strain Brandywine.

The yellow/red is an Old German tomato. The other three are German Pink. Old German, sliced. This tomato tastes sugary sweet and nothing like a red or pink. Tastes like a fruity sweet dessert tomato. I’m about to swipe some raw linden honey on a slice and try.

A large Old German and a Giant Heart Climber tomato. I pulled about five more of the Old Germans off one plant the past couple days, a couple more of the Giant Heart Climber. Got one huge Heart out there now growing between the stake and the jute cord so I’ll have to cut it free tomorrow afternoon.

Still have a lot of Romas on the vines, but the Brandywines, Cherokees and Hillbillies don't have much fruit on them. What there is of them is pretty small. I don't know if it's because everything grew earlier by 2-3 weeks, or the hot/wet then cool/dry weather.

Similar but it’s that time. Still a buncy of San Marzanos on the plant a few smaller amongst the beefsteaks. Been making a lot of sauces with the San Marzano, Earliana, and Livingston’s Honor Bright.
