First post to the site (been lurking for a bit).
I'm a retired merchant mariner & heavy industrial construction hand, now living the life down Mejico way.
Been smoking a pipe, off and on for around 30 years.
My current pipe(s) of choice are big, fat pots. Savinelli 121EX, 315EX, GBD New Era 9437, style of big.
Current tobaccos are mostly SG/GH & Co. blends, with Dark Plug at the top, followed by 1792, Brown Flake Aromatic, Coniston Cut Plug and Russ's War Horse Green, Bar and Bengal Slices, (those last 3 usually for breakfast).
I do a fair bit of kitchen blending, some of it goes into my trusty brick press, some straight to the jar. Latest project was a Bengal Slices copycat that turned out really close to the original. However I don't think Russ Ouellette has anything to fear...

How did you end up retiring to Mexico? Just liked the area? I do like it here. I'm up in coffee country, near the capital of Veracruz, Xalapa (or Jalapa). It's beautiful up here and relatively quiet as compared to the rest of the country. Best coffee going and some fine tobaccos as well, most of which are, sadly, used in cigarette production. |
