Tougher day than I expected. My deceased father's attorney messed up his final tax returns. Forwarded the IRS response to her last night and got back an auto reply today she'll be out of the country until June 17. Hate it when that happens but not the first time I've had to clean up after legal eagles. Spoke to the IRS, the fix doesn't appear too complicated and I'll be fine. Finishing off my tin of C&D Quiet Night in a smooth 1/8th bent Reddog Pipe Rhodesian with a wooden inlaid stem by Basil Meadows in the work barn, drinking Coors Light and enjoying a brief bit of sunshine before more rains resume later.

Started off my normal hectic Friday with Astleys No44 Dark Virginia Flake in the most beautiful pipe I own: The Goussard #1601, a 2-knuckled bamboo shank pot. Coffee, then tea. Grateful for a couple of overnight showers.

Now smoking MacBaren Virginia Blend in a smooth medium bend 2011 Rinaldo Collection Fiammata Silver Line 7 Odea 4 flame grain bulldog with a silver band and a tortoise shell acrylic stem. Just fed Suzy. Molly wasn't interested in wet food, but ate plenty of dry. If she liked martinis, I'm sure they'd be dryer than the hottest desert in the world.

51F and clear at daybreak. We might actually make it through the day without rain but the weekend looks like another washout. Smoking Mac Baren Vanilla Cream RR in a smooth silver capped Peterson 307 System Star sans condenser, drinking Trader Joe's coffee and listening to NPR. Going for a walk at daybreak then taking my gas cans to Kroger to use all my fuel points at the end of the month.

Ah, what a tough life those in retirement have Mark I'm going out in style, in style I say! Smoking 2012 4Noggins Prairie Wind in a blasted Mark Tinsky Hawksbill, drinking ice tea with lemon, listening to ESPN radio, paying a couple end of month bills and will be tuning into the feature race at Churchill Downs this afternoon since we have a sunny day here and no scratches for a change.

Supper was the last bowl of homemade minestrone soup with a side salad. Getting ready to fire up Esoterica Margate in a 1/4 bent lattice finished IMP meerschaum billiard, drinking A&W Root Beer 10 and settling in for the Friday night PBS lineup.

Relaxing after a wonderful baby back ribs and potato salad dinner with a bowl of Butera era Pelican in a 2002 Ser Jacopo Delecta Fatta A Mano R1 sandblast Rhodesian with a smooth extension at the shank with a black acrylic stem. Ice water and bergs is my evening drink. M'lady got a heckuva deal on ribs today, buy one rack, get one free. It was tempting to dig into eating the other rack, but I managed to restrain myself with a bowl of vanilla ice cream and a big slice of apple pie. Hey, I got will power, folks!
