I bought my first new car in 66.An Impala Super Sport $3,200 .I used to kid that you could buy a new car for a dollar a pound.I only made about 3 bucks an hour then but, money bought a lot more back then than it does now. You could pay a car loan off in 3 years instead 7
Do you know what your first car would be worth today in mint condition with matching numbers?? $90,000 plusπππ
Great deal.....low mileage....you stole the car at that price......good for youπππ
Anybody remember when the new VW beetle cost $5,000.00. When I worked for Eastern Airlines, I can remember when pilots would come in on payday and buy 2 or 3 of these cute cars for their kids...they made on average $100,000+ per year, (some more) and bought them like candy. Ah, they good old days (this was before deregulation when everybody with the airlines did very well. Stewardess came in on Friday and borrowed $5,000.00 and returned on Monday and deposited $30,000. (those ladies were on the South American runs)...guess where the money came from.
I'm getting old, I remember when a new Beetle was $1600. stripped version, $1900 with a/c ,radio and such. A Plymouth Duster was under $2000. (late 60's)

You know your getting old when you have your anti diarrhea pills next to the bottle of stool softener pills.

As I age I've come to realize that much which was presented as fact was or is fantasy. The heroes of past and present are actually anything but. Some sought glory, and were in fact self centered asses. The real heroes has glory thrust upon them. They had or have goals worthy of praise. The praise wasn't the goal. To achieve the goal, some had to be asses in someone's eyes. Those whose goal was or is praise, too often little of what the do or say merits praise. I too have learned that these things have always been true of mankind.

I'm probably wrong on the price...I know it was so cheap that they (the Captains) would buy several in different colors...my only question to them was...where the hell do you park all these cars?

I've seen some similar(online) but not quite this nice. I didn't see a name or brand at imgur.

I'm of the opinion that quality tobacco makes the smoke, or at least one you like, regardless of the price of the pipe. Sure some quality pipes smoke quite well, but if you don't like the tobacco, you won't like the smoke. So, smoke what you like and like what you smoke.

Charles Bronson was a huge fan of pipe smoking and had an outstanding collection of pipesπππ. He also discovered how relaxing and enjoying a pipe helped relieve his personal stress. A good hearted soul....May he Rest In Peace.

Evening Grumpy...hope you had a great day. I weedate for about 4 hours today...got the back cut, looks much better. Try cutting weeds on an acre of land...lot of space to clear...but it is done, tomorrow is the front part. Not looking forward to it, but it needs doing.

"Not worth yoU getting sick over cutting weeds!!" You are right...but I enjoy seeing if I can get a stroke..not really, but I do enjoy it. I have a guy that does all our serious house work and he has a zero-turn that really moves...not expensive either, I'm just a hardhead.
It's 61f and wind from the NE at 11mph. A big change from this past week and most all summer. Good pipe smoking weather. Very enjoyable.
