My new Blakemar Briars Sherwood Select arrived today. It not only looks good but smokes well as well. I got several tobaccos I wanted to try, three Sutliff match blenda. First is the Ready Rubbed match, then Revelation Match and last is Flying Dutchman Match. The Ready Rubbed is similar to the Lane's Ready Rubbed. I like it. As being the same as the original I'd not know. Don't remember smoking any. And now many years have passed, so my taster is different too. I never tried Revelation either, but I like the slightly aromatic English blend, noticeable latakia, and a slightly sweet blend of other tobaccos.(Revelation Match from Sutliff blends a smoky Latakia element with Burley, Kentucky, Virginia, and Perique for complex flavor with a plum casing for accent.) I've not tried the Flying Dutchman yet, but I liked the original, hope it's close to what I remember. Memory is a fleeting ability. I see where some say this isn't the same stuff as I smoked 40 years ago. I think that the writer most likely has changed more that the match tobacco is different than the original.

I have Sutliff Revelation Match in the Blakemar Briars Sherwood Select smooth bent Bulldog. Drinking Icy Tea!

When I was growing up, my Dad didn't allow improper speech. He allowed a little slang, words like ain't or taint (as in "Taint so." weren't allowed. The noon meal was lunch or dinner and we has supper in the evening ( never dinner). I was taught to be able to convey my meaning without the use of profanity or vulgarities. His idea was that it was an advantage to not seem stupid or ignorant.
Now in the U.S. it has all turned upside down. "Dumbing Down" is popular. Those who can speak properly don't to appease the populace. Those who can't speak properly don't seem as ignorant or stupid. All too often our leaders use vulgarities as an acceptable part of speech. How wonderful for the future historians having to explain it, or remove it from the text.

The stupidity of people is amazing. I had some stupid woman who rolled her mini-van down to tell me I should be more careful. First she should be more careful, she didn't know me, or how crazy I may be. I'm not her husband, and I stopped being that kind of husband in 2000 with my divorce. I don't cower to the whims of any woman or man. I easily could have been a psychopath or sociopath. Had I not been fighting bronchitis,or been more crazy, I'd shown her what bumping her car door could really be. Not me just bumpiing it with the bag with cough drops, cologne and antacids.
Stupid is as stupid does. I love this quote from the movie "Forrest Gump". Supposedly smart often do stupid things , if they are lucky and it's not too dangerous, the live to learn from it. If they don't live or learn, and having lived, they may have spent their luck on the first occurance. The inverse is if a stupid person doesn't do too many stupid things, he is blessed with wisdom. An attribute possessed by few. Many are smart in many ways, usually in their avocation, and vocation and not much else. Wisdom comes from failures and successes in ones life.
Situational awareness is a concept many lack. Being less than well, I used the electric scooter at Wal-Mart to get some stuff I needed. I almost hit I don't know how many people who walked from side isles I had to dodge. When in my car, I dodge cars and people for the same reason. They don't look, or see when they do look. I try to know what is going on around me for my safety. I look both ways before proceeding when the light turns green. Having been almost hit by a pick-up which had been rear ended. I was lucky that I was slow to pull into the intersection.

Sad, isn't it...life has become so screwed up...I really feel for the younger generation...only problem is, they already think they know it all. At 75, I'm still learning things...and enjoy the process.
Been wanting to say this for over a week...Howdy, Grumpy, Hope you are having a great day!
Had to run from the bears in Kentucky and couldn't log off several times...was on the porch using the wifi from across the holler...look up and see a bear looking at me...whoops, back in the house.

I see it not unlike GRUMPY's version of the daily chronicle (the original one, since this was first), but more a documentary of grumpy's life and purchases.

I kind of see it as Grumpy's daily musings, and we see funny cat videos! lol
