Ok I have come up with a a contest idea that could be kinda fun.It is the April Fool picture contest..take a picture of yourself doing something silly or foolish while smoking your favorite pipe and post it..please keep it family friendly as well. now for the prize!! everyone who enters will put up 1 ounce of tobacco from their hoard post what it is and whoever is voted best picture gets the tobacco from everyone who enters..so the winner could end with a real bonanza if there are a bunch of players..once the winner is announced everyone will simply send the winner their ounce of tobacco the put up.. If sparks wishes to approve this we can work out the ground rules and logistics.. have a great day!

I have no issue with member supported contests at all. As long as people realize that they are on the hook based on the ground rules, I see no issue.
If you guys decide you want to go forward with it, we can start an official thread and get some rules posted. I will leave the footwork up to you to figure out and I'll assist with getting a thread created and an announcement posted.
We can continue discussion here and move forward once it's all squared away.

Rule number one: No photographs of rectal smoking. Congrats on pulling it off, but no one wants to see it.

Any photographs involving Royal Yacht will be instant winners for me, although it's going to be hard to beat Brad's "benevolent curmudgeon" photo!

The odds should be upped to make it worth while. Not many want to inherit a bunch of 1 ounce bags of whatever crap the donators don't want. If those participating want to donate an unopened tin of tobacco, then it's worth it. Also, who is judging the entries? Get that worked out and if all is kosher, I'd be willing to put up a sealed 8 ounce bag of Penzance. Bill, I understand where you are coming from but I think this should start out small to work out the kinks and get a good working system...I wouldn't want to start out big and have it blow up in my face with several hundreds of dollars in tobacco at stake. I also want to start out this project as something fun to do in the spirit of fellowship and having a laugh with other members being silly. I am also thinking this could be a monthly thing where the contest could be the biggest fish story or best picture caption contest and thats why I like starting small. If it woks out well then I am sure there will members wanting to raise the stakes and have bigger prizes and maybe have the mega contest twice a year or something like that. I also think we could have raffles for pipes or gift cards. I am thinking that maybe every other month or so a gift card or pipe gets raffled off..heres how I see it working..members know a raffle is coming up for a gift card and all who want to participate kick in 5 bucks..the gift card will be in the amount of how ever much is collected...20 members enter the card is 100 bucks..30 members..150...7 members 35 bucks..if it goes well maybe do a raffle and raise the enterance fee to 10 bucks and have one our resident pipe makers make a pipe for the raffle..if 25 members enter it will be a 250 dollar pipe..if 30 enter a 300 dollar pipe..so the entrance fee pays for the pipe. these are just a few things that have been bouncing around in my head.
