Why not alcohol? Instead of using hot water or whatever to sanitize jars for tobacco, why not just wipe them out with alcohol?

I use baking soda and hot water to not leave a residual or smell.

I use stuff called SaniClean. It's a no rinse sanitizer I use with home brewing. I use it in my kegs and lines to remove beer "ghosts".

I believe that using hot water is a two fold solution. 1. it sanitizes the jar and lids 2. It heats them up so that after closing them loosely the lid is sucked down to achieve a seal. Cold alcohol may sanitize but could cause the seal to dry out and crack thus defeating the purpose.
