Watched 'Jonny English strikes again' this afternoon with my eldest. Not a bad film. The music score was very James bond-like. That made a difference for me. Nice touch.
I'd give it 63%

Apostle. A horror film on Netflix. No spoilers, but it's about a cult and it gets real weird. Solid 3/5. Maybe 3 1/2 of 5.

"Dr. No", 1962. Yeah, the one that started it all. IMHO, they could have stopped right there. The movie was so good, anything later is just a fading echo. The so called "franchise" deteriorated into kitsch. OK, "Goldfinger" was worth making but not much else. Once the original Bond, "M" (Bernard Lee) and Miss Moneypenny were gone, the sequels just kind of limped along. Sink me if I error here!

Been home with my youngest for 3 weeks. Have seen The My Little Ponies movie about 20 times. I hear the songs when I go to sleep. I find myself muttering Awesome, Awesome(which is the name of one of it main songs), when I'm doing other things. While it is a great movie for kids. I think I need to bleach my brain out at this time.

I remember being so disappointed watching Goldfinger and only seeing the woman covered in gold for all of 2 seconds. That was a great shtick worth sticking too throughout the rest of the movie! Hate me but my Bond is Pierce Brosnan.

They would both sing the song to me as soon as I walked through the door to visit......they knew I had that song ( ear worm ) stuck in my head for months. I get even every time when I visit, I sing it to them both now that they’ve become older and dislike the movie. Whichever one gets married first and if I’m still on this Earth, I “ garontee “ the song will be played at their wedding 👌👍👍

If you have not seen the movie or read the book by John Le Carre, The Tailor of Panama, involves a Bond like character, admirably performed by Brosnan. This is a humorous and interesting tale of intrigue. Filmed entirely in Panama which is also interesting.

As for frozen... Don't get me started!

Leonor Varela played gorgeous, Geoffrey Rush played befuddled, Brosnan sneared, and Jamie Lee Curtis was confused as to why she was there at all. If you watch Tailor oF Panama followed by Wag the Dog things get pretty cynical.

I have to disagree. Thunderball was the first one that I saw in the theater, so I liked those several in the middle best. I think I mostly just like the travel photography.

I guess I am lucky that my son's favorites were Snow White, Aladdin, and Sleeping Beauty, over and over until replaced by Beetlejuice.

I just finished watching The Jazz Singer for the first time. I think I had always dismissed it as an old silent movie with a gimmick. And of course it is condemned because Al Jolson sings in black face. It was actually Megan Kelly's faux paus that reminded me that I needed to watch it. I have to say that I think it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Very moving, and a lot of truth to the story. 10/10. I did some further reading about Jolson and I found that he was a true American hero, the kind of person who disproves the claim that America was never that great.

Haven't been to a theater in at least 18 years...so I can't rate it as I don't remember what it was. Don't like people or loud theaters.

The Night Comes for Us. Those Indonesians are top-level mini-bosses all the way through. Not as tight as The Raid but you can tell they had more money to film this one. Come for the fights and don't worry about the plot.

It's a better movie than its given credit for being. The plot gets away from them for a while there but very atmosheric and the old lady really convinced me of her character.

The Jazz Singer is one of my favorite films. Most people don't know that it's a remake of an earlier German film from 1923 entitled The Ancient Law. That was also a wonderfully made film. I didn't know about Jolson being a hero, but I do have a good Jolson story. Jolson and Eddie Cantor were rivals, and Jolson was frankly jealous of Cantor's prodigious success with women. Frustrated, he asked a very statuesque chorus girl, "What's Cantor got that Jolson ain't got!" "Nine inches", was the reply.

"The Fourth Kind". A real stinker. I would give it a 4 out of 10. Only that high because Mila Jovovich is beautiful.

"Alexander Nevsky", 1938. Eisentein's depiction of what happened in the 13th Century when Germans became too aggresive and the Russian people rise up to defend the Motherland. Unfortunately, the film was not released before the Germans repeated their past error around 1942. The film might be considered "hammy" by modern standards but I enjoy it.
Prokoviev wrote a magnificent score for the movie which stands alone as a great symphonic suite. In 1978, the Oakland Symphony performed it under the Direction of Calvin Simmonds. I was there for that.
Some call it Art, others Stalinist propoganda. I believe the AFI has included it among the "100 Best Movies".

The Magnificent Seven (2016)
Nowhere near as good as the original, but still not a bad way to kill two hours.

I remember watching that on pirated DVD the year it came out while in South Korea!
The deep south has always intrigued me. The aesthetic of it makes for great horror films. The old architecture and the mossy trees. Road trip someday.

"The Old Man and the Gun". Robert Redford's last acting role. A nice story loosely based upon a serial bank robber.
Sissy Spacek is as darling as ever.

Batman v Superman : being a comic book geek,I'm pretty critical of superhero movies. This one felt a bit overcomplicated at times (I wonder if there'll be a directors cut?) but generally was pretty good, better for my money than the Marvel efforts. An entertaining 6/10
