I finally watched Inception last night. I enjoyed it. I think if I would have got up and missed a few minutes I would have been lost. Lots of action and a good bit of thinking.
I'd say a 6.5 out of 10.

I just got done watching The Ballad of Buster Scruggs on Netflix. Really good movie. If you're a fan of the Coen brothers' other work (O' Brother, Where Art Thou, for example), you'll probably like this one. The movie is comprised of 6 vignettes. Some of them are certainly better than others, but it's all good stuff.
The best thing about it was the casting. There was not a single mediocre actor in the whole thing. Liam Neeson, Tom Waits, Steven Root (of King of the Hill fame), & Tim Blake Nelson really manage to steal scenes, though.
I'll give it a 4.5/5.
Gotta try that one. The Coens brew up a good cup o' movie.

I'd say a 6.5 out of 10. Some people aren't a fan. I loved it. Thought it was really clever, although I need closure in a movie, so the end was hard for me to take.

I'd say a 6.5 out of 10. You know, I kind of made the film more complex than it really is first time I saw it. I watched it a third time recently without getting up for beers/leaks haha and it was just a stylish, well done action film with a heathy dose of suspense. I really liked it.

The ending left it open for another one maybe?
I'll watch it another time or 2 and see how it pans out. I was still thinking about it today while I work. Because it stuck with me and still had me thinking, I change my original 6.5 to a 7.5. Not many movies do that with me.
It left me wanting more, but maybe that was the point as well?

A Quiet Place. Another post apocalypse tale with creatures that look like the Alien with super sensitive hearing. Huh. Well they don't say a whole lot in this movie but the actors do shine conveying emotion using sign language and real acting. The ending is very good. I give it a solid 7.5 and the chihuahua was glued to the set and gives it two paws up cause dogs don't have thumbs. A outstanding performance by Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.

If you watch it a couple times, it really brings perspective to the end. He was actually awake and rejoing his old life. It's nice to have a happy ending sometimes, regardless of what those artsy french types say. Haha

Venom is an interesting movie, usually I don't watch this type of movie, it was recommended by my son. Tom Hardy is a favorite of mine and I found it entertaining. Mr Lee did a cameo, some funny parts in it, I was not dissapointed.

Well worth the watch, it runs the gambit from sentimental, to corny, to poignant, to down right disturbing. I have yet to read a single review which speaks of the thread which binds the stories together, so I will not introduce a spoiler here other than to say anything by the Coen brothers is worth watching, no matter the emotions it elicits.

I liked 4 out of the 6 snips, but all were well done. Surprised me that I actually liked a few enough to go back and watch again.

2036: Origin Unknown. A Netflix original with Katie Sackoff. They should have saved their money. 2 out of 10.

Spiderman :into the Spiderverse
Loved it! Best Spiderman movie ever! I've believed for a long time that animation would be the best way to do superhero movies and this backs it up.
Lots of nice touches (Steve Ditko getting an appearance in Miles's phone numbers),but great plot, great action, and a great story!
Joyous 10/10

Just watched "Titanic", the 1953 version with Clifton Webb and Barbara Stanwyck. Nothing says "Happy New Year" like hitting an iceberg.

Six maybe 6.5 out of ten... It was charming film but not original, as there are other versions to chose from.

Just finished watching *Seven Psychopaths.* The movie is light on plot and heavy on character development. Tom Waits, Collin Farrell, and Christopher Walken all gave stellar performances, but there were times when the writing was less than astounding.
I'll give it 2.5 of 5 stars.

We wanted to watch Harper and Heaven Knows Mr Allison this week, but Amazon wants money to watch them. The quality of the stuff that they include with Prime fee is about 5% pure genius and 80% fertilizer with the 15% in the middle being a mix of mediocrity.

Bird Box on Netflix. Essentially the love child of Pulse(2006) and A Quiet Place(2018). I generally dislike Sandra Bullock, but she was okay in this. Overall the film was done well and held my interest. It had a few fun bits. Worth watching once. 3/5 stars.

Mine too. The British do a better job of making movies. Kenneth Moore was a fine Lightoller. Then there was Honor Blackman. Any show with Honor Blackman is greatly improved over movies elsewhere.

"Heaven Knows Mr. Allison", another John Houston gem. One of Mitchum's best roles. Anything with Deborah Kerr is good.

Just finished The Leftovers. Three seasons on HBO. I really liked it, but I am glad it's over. Very melancholic. I mean the show is about what happens to those left on Earth after a rapture type event, so I expected it to have that despondent limbo kind of feel. Check it out if you're bored. 4/5 or 7/10.
And Carrie Coon is my new celeb crush.
Now to dry my eyes and look for something to smoke.

"Twentieth Century", 1934. Howard Hawks early Screwball Comedy with John Barrymore and Carole Lombard.
One of my favorite comedies. Barrymore shows what acting is supposed to be. While he hams it up for laughs, listen to his diction and enunciation. I firmly believe the first duty of an actor is to be heard by the audience. Often, this is forgotten by the Method Acting mumblers in today's world. When any of the Barrymore family is on, I do not need Closed Captioning to follow the dialogue.
Great supporting cast. A very funny movie.
