"Operation Finale", 2018.
A group of Mossad Agents plan the removal of Adolph Eichman from Buenos Aires. A well done thriller/Caper movie without a lot of wizbang. Quite and determined. Ben Kingsley plays a thoughtful and manipulative Eichman. Oscar Isaac does a good job playing the real Mossad agent, Peter Malkin. 9/10.

"Paddleton" with Ray Romano ... the topic of a close friend choosing to end their own life after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Prepare to have tissues nearby! Also, it was great to see Romano in a serious roll.

Yesterday I saw the accountant with Ben Afleck. It was like a brilliant mind crossed with sniper.
I quite enjoyed it. Story was a bit weak for me but it was decent enough. I give it 65%.

I just saw the new Captain Marvel film.
The good:
The film is meticulously produced. Action sequences are well choreographed. The visual FX are beautifully rendered and the art direction of the FX is top notch. Generally the performances are good. The pacing is brisk. The result is entertaining and doesn't outstay its welcome.
The not so good:
I found the opening sequence in outer space downright irritating due to a plethora of clichés and overused tropes. This, tied with the sort of camera trickery that tends to pull me out of the narrative had me thinking that I was stuck watching a real stinker. Fortunately, things improve vastly when the location of the story moves to Earth. The dialogue has its moments but for the most part is efficient and dull. It's a blessing that the film has as good a cast as it does.
The conclusion:
Captain Marvel isn't the best of the Marvel Universe films that I've watched, not by a long shot, but it's a pleasant diversion. Plus, the cat is great! Stick around for the Easter egg at the end after the credits.
3.5 out of 5

Finally saw "Green Book".
Good story, partly true, and well acted. I truly felt Donald Shirley's pain at being rejected by Black and White society in those days. Viggo Mortensen made a believable Brooklynite goomba. Relived those Jim Crow days of yesteryear when a talented musician could perform in an establishment but better not expect to eat there. Nice to see an enduring friendship form between two men of such different backgrounds and character.

They ought to have Cuaron direct all space sequences in the future.

I am looking forward to seeing this. I hated that part of the "good old days".

I am looking forward to seeing this. I hated that part of the "good old days". The best part of this story is that both men helped the other one fit a little better into their own world. That is what friendship is about.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs a strange movie of old west short stories done by the Coen brothers simply put pure genius. I am going to have to watch it a few more times to get more of the hidden messages the Coen's always throw in there. All the stories have a bird in the underlying plot that one I got. 8/10

Wife and I saw Green Book last night, wife stayed awake during the whole show, Vigo to me deserved an award, he’s been putting out stellar performances for a while. For those who panned it, you don’t know good cinema when you see it, Roma sucked, felt bad at the true portrayal of the Sourhern folks, that’s how it was and no sugar coating gonna make it different. We all need to be better, including myself. Oh forgot to add, it’s a great movie, that’s why it won best picture.

Just got a double Les Miserables DVD of the 1935 & 1952 versions. I have always liked this Victor Hugo story of Valjean and his nemises, Inspector Javert.
I also mention this in passing as there will be a new version in 6 parts on PBS Masterpiece Theatre at 8:00 PM, Sunday, April 14.

I saw Captain Marvel at the weekend. I would agree with sablebrush52, it was a decent enough watch - it kept me occupied for 2 hours, but it wasn't the best Marvel Universe film I'd watched. It was quite funny in places. I'd give it 65%.

Wife and I watched The Favorite, curious about the BestvActress Academy Award, liked the scenes that showed the rooms, furniture, not so much the LOVING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE WOMEN, if you know what I mean. I was prepared to say Glen Close should have won but Coleman I think edged her out. Not my kind of movie.

Avengers endgame
22 movies boiled down to 3 hours and one very long time not to use the bathroom.
A satisfying conclusion to Marvel. Especially the final 25 minutes. 9/10

I didn't see as much of the bad stuff in Houston, but I saw much worse in Lake Arthur and Birmingham. Made me ashamed to be white.

Walter Huston to Bogie & Holt: "Your so dumb, there is nothing to compare you to." Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Enjoyable as ever. Saw it in a 2 disc DVD set with documentaries and extras longer than the film.

Watching "Land of Mine", 2018.
A German language film about a troop of youthful Wermacht survivors after the end of WWII. They are prisoners of war in Denmark and given the job of removing 40,000 of the 2.2 million landmines the Germans placed on the west coast of Denmark. The Danish army officers and non-coms training and supervising the German lads do not like them and are about as hard on them as we might expect. About 1/3 of the way in and looking forward to where this is going other than a big explosion.

Saw The Mule, not great, good, Clint in my book can do no wrong. I tried to watch it twice and fell asleep both times right after his 3rd run. Then I took it back to redbox before I forgot about it and got charged $40 again. (I forgot I had some movies for almost a month) I need to rent it again, I've always like Clint

I found that movie to be sad and painful to watch, but interesting none the less. Got me into reading up on what happened in Denmark at the end of the war.
