Saturday Night Cinema on my local PBS is High Noon. Have lost track of how many past views, but I will enjoy it as much as ever.

In regard to the Irish/Troubles thread in TV, 1993, In the Name of the Father - Daniel Day Lewis in an inspired lead performance and Pete Postlewaite in fine support. It is a film of merit and highly recommended. Superb film.

Watched "Dracula", 1932. A restored print. What a well done film. Holds up so well after all these years. Still as creepy as ever. I used to like to spend Halloween eve watching this one. It came early on TV this year.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Pretty cheesy, but mildly entertaining. 6 out of 10

Yep, it's a good one, before they got so "creative". I really like the original Nosferatu. Brilliant!

The Arctic- An on the edge of your seat movie. A man is stranded in the Arctic and you dont know how he ended up there but you can assume that he was in a plane crash because he is surviving inside the wrecked plane. He uses some type of radio manual beacon to attract some type rescue plane. He does get a lock and a helicopter comes to rescue him but gets caught in a wild wind gust and crashes. the pilot of the copter dies and the engineer survives but barely. Now the man has to decide to leave the relitive saftey of his shelter and try to save himself and the survivor of the helicopter crash by trekking across the arctic on foot or staying and watching the woman die that he pulled from the helicopter crash. You get the feeling of desolation in this movie and you can almost feel the wind blow through you. There are maybe 150 words spoken during the whole movie but the way Mads Markellsen uses body language and facial changes you have no need for words to know what is going through his mind. 5/5 stars

"Harry Brown" starring Michael Caine - It is a tried and true Death Wish rehash but with Michael Caine! Michael Caine is Harry Brown, a pensioner and former Royal Marine that watches his his neighborhood turn into a crime filled cesspool. He is rather indifferent about what is going on and tells his best mate that the police need to clean up the place and that to just stay out of trouble. When Harry's best friend gets murdered trying to take on the thugs thats when Harry gets even. What I like about the movie is Harry is an older guy in not the best of health and that leads to some of the bad guys getting away and to a rather interesting ending. 3/5 stars for rehashing the story line.. 4/5 stars due to Harry almost dying several times during the movie unlike Charles Bronson who is a cross between the Terminator and the Energizer Bunny and just keeps going. 4.5/5 stars because ..well it is Michael Caine after all!

Along the same lines as Eastwood's Gran Torino. Entertaining efforts from two solid pro's.

Two memorable lines by Harry- "You have failed to maintain your weapon, son!"
"I don't reckon you've got long. Seen that before. Gut wound."
Both spoken in the matter of fact tone Michael Caine knows how to deliver.

The Accountant. Ben Affleck plays a semi-autistic guy who went through a brutal childhood, but becomes a stone cold accountant to some very interesting folks and companies. 8/10. DIRECTV, recorded a few months ago. May be On Demand, or on the Flix or Prime by now.

I saw that and enjoyed it. A tried and true revenge plot. MC does his usual great job of negotiating cliff hangers by his fingernails. I liked your rating system.

Re watching Harold and Maude tonight, A great movie about a teen that if fixated and obsessed with suicide who meets a much older woman that lives a devil may care life, live for the moment, lifestyle. The need each other emotionally and soon enough they become romantically involved. Harold's mom keeps setting him up with "computer" dates and each date ends before it even starts due to Harold faking a suicide in front of every prospective date. The move is a cult classic and one that everyone needs to see at least once in their life. 4.5/5.0 stars.

I’m enjoying my morning pipe and watching “The King” (2018), a “musical road trip across the US in Elvis Presley’s 1963 Rolls-Royce during the 2016 presidential election.” www.theking.film/

Just watched The King and I with Ken Wantanbe and Kelly O'Hara... Great movie! Ken proved himself as a legitimate actor for musicals with a voice I never knew he had and his skills as an actor are showcased! I never heard of Kelly O'Hara before but her voice is pure and sweet and the chemistry between her and Ken can make you believe that they are in love. Worth watching a few more times! 4.5/5 stars

I watched 15 minutes of The Adams Family before I walked out of the room, definitely one of the worst movies ever made.
