Manhunt: The Unabomber 1st season, all 8 episodes are on the Unabomber. If the facts are true, to a certain level, you understand why he became what he became. 9/10 On Netflix I enjoyed it too. Some creative interpretation of the facts, but artistically valid. I found it credible and balanced when they closed with the victims impact statements on their lives, having humanized TK to a certain extent. I did not know (and/or forgotten) the sizeable reward and that it was awarded to his brother.

Nevada Smith. Great cast and a very watchable western. Lots of stars in this one. I give it 8/10.

I've been on a Joan Fontaine kick this weekend: The Constant Nymph, Born to be Bad, and Damsel in Distress. I'd say Damsel in Distress is worth watching two of the dance sequences and little else, Born to be Bad is well made but is a lighter if yet refreshingly different noir, and The Constant Nymph is a better story than movie. In the last one she somewhat convincingly plays a 15 year old at 26 whilst Charle Boyer slurs his lines straight to an unexpectedly sappy ending. Born to be Bad is probably the most rewatchable of the three but her best gowns are in Damsel in Distress.

Just watched "Hombre" again. One of my top ten westerns. Paul Newman's John Russell has some 'hard bark' on him, according to Richard Boone's Cicero Grimes. Frank Silvera is classic as well as the vaquero. I totally forgot about all the great supporting roles Silvera had over the years. He was a very talented actor. The last twenty minutes of this movie is gold. I give this one 8.5/10. It really never gets old for me.

Loved the Winchester '73. Richard Boone never turned in a less than great performance.

Just watched The Post and heartily recommend it as a story very much worth knowing as well as very timely. It's not a Spielbergian extravaganza, thank goodness, and it features very good work from Meryl Streep as Katharine Graham and Tom Hanks at Ben Bradlee.
Woody Allen's Wonder Wheel is a thorough dud. It wishes it was Tennessee Williams or Eugene O'Neill. It isn't. It goes nowhere. The only wonder is that it got made.

Always enjoyed Bradlee's interviews on television. Hanks seems a good choice.

I give Dunkirk 9 stars out of 10. Just watched it on blu ray. The bonus disc containing a detailed making-of docu gives added dimension to our understanding of what a groundbreaking achievement this film is, considering the stunning difficulty involved in filming this saga in mostly "in-camera" (non-CGI) format. The CGI elements used in a few scenes were produced in the way that they should.

"Bright" with Will Smith ... Not recommended. The lack of creativity and originality is stifling.

My wife and I just watched Hidden Figures. Interesting story of the black women that worked at NASA in the early 1960s, and how they helped to solve some of the problems with putting a man into orbit. I'm sure there were some Hollywood liberties taken with the story, but I thought it was still very interesting. Well filmed and the acting was top notch.

In this day of cookie cutter mediocrity, you have to commend a fresh and original story.

Just saw The Greatest Showman, a highly fictionalized musical version based on the life and times of P.T. Barnum. Let me begin by saying that the film is so sweetly, relentlessly upbeat that you may suffer from a diabetic coma before it comes to an end. It is a thoroughly dumb film, with somewhat insipid musical numbers. But I had a fun time watching it and would recommend it to anyone who can suspend disbelief, and just enjoy a good silly time in the theater. The film's production values are top notch. It is beautiful to watch. The message is uplifting. So it is a guilty pleasure, but a pleasure nonetheless. 3 out of 5 stars

Mark Levin is certainly a political personality, but there is none of that in this interview of Johnathon Lee Iverson, the last ringmaster of the Barnum and Bailey show... he raised his family in the circus and his life gets story on how he rose to that position is quite a compelling story.

Just finished Dunkirk, my Grandfather on my Moms side were Granger's from England, never was so proud of the resolve of the English people. War is so terrible.

Just returned from seeing Darkest Hour, which covers events in May 1940 from Chamberlain's resignation thru Churchill's famous "We will fight them on the beaches!" speech. The film is a must see for anyone interested in Churchill and the various forces at play within the British government. Gary Oldman's performance as Churchill is extraordinary, and all the performances are equally fine. Production values are excellent throughout, though some of the VFX are a bit showy, but in a way that they might have been in a film from that period if today's digital tools were available then. 4.5 out of 5

I cannot fathom how dark it must have been for the Brit’s during that time, watching the Nazi war machine on the March... Churchill was quite a remarkable man, and truly the right man for the right time.

I am watching Dunkirk next, and Churchill when it's available at home. I have read a lot about the Blitz, and the person I am most impressed with is Elizabeth. I think it is only right that she got the job for life.

Just finished the 2 hour pilot for "Then Came Bronson" 88%. I remember that series as it was about that time I brought home a HD WL. Not as groovy as his Sportster but a nice old bike.

A guy had a dark blue beanie on at work when he rode up on his bike... I said, “then came Bronson” No one got it...😀 You know you are getting old when....

Jim's bike was a light custom built by Bud Elkins, who was also the Harley Dealer, mechanic, stunt coordinator and stuntman who did the beach, dirt, and hill climb riding. He suppl all the bikes, including the CZ used for the hill climb scene. The Sportster had a 21" front wheel, a different headlight, gas tank, and rear fender. "Hang in There"

Bladerunner 2049 - 4.5 stars! Unexpectedly good. Evokes the feel of the original, but actually a more interesting, intelligent story. Ziegfeld Follies (1946) 3 stars. Unexpectedly mediocre. As if Warner Bros. decided to stitch together a bunch of second-tier cast-off musical and so-called comedy numbers, and call it a movie. Introduced by William Powell as Ziegfeld in heaven . A couple of great Fred Astaire sequences, including a classic with Gene Kelly.

Blondie and I had a date night last week. Being as she had already gone to the movies with the girls and saw the latest iteration of Pitch Perfect, we decided to see the new Star Wars movie.
I'd give it a 4 outta 5 stars for the production quality and special effects. Would have been a 5 if it weren't so danged long. Could have easily been 30 or 45 minutes shorter.
