As some of you know, I've been sprucing up the mancave here lately... thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/1477/mancave-redux-photosuckit-hostage-crisis?page=2&scrollTo=36092One of the last few things I wanted to do was pick up some leather or even pleather chairs. Preferably wingbacks. As luck would have it I found a couple of chairs on CL last Friday. Nice folks, but were outta town until today so we agreed to meet today @ 7pm. So, I made the 1 hour trek up to meet em, looked the chairs over, made a lowball offer and they took it. It's my understanding that they had started out wanting $300 or so for the pair, a while back. By the time I found em they were asking $150. I offered em $100 and they took it. I'm pleased as punch. Here they are.... ![]()     |

Unless I really see something I feel I need to have, I am buying the rest of my furniture used. Having taken a beating myself selling off some furniture recently, and bought great furniture for a fraction of what others paid, there is no need to go there again... excluding beds of course.

Really makes the place class up, it was classy already , but icing on the cake. I usually order my chairs from N Carolina, Furniture stores here are really into crazy prices, almost like you're adding a wing on your home with their prices. Love the bargin.you and my wife make a good pair into getting bargains.

After bringing up the new chairs I wasn't too happy with the layout of things. So, after Nick got home from work this evening we moved things around a bit. We ended up moving the sofa to the opposite wall and then moved the desk to the wall the sofa was on. Then we moved the chairs around about 90 degrees, creating a couple of separate areas. One area is the "Lounge"  with the chairs facing the sofa. The other area is the desk that faces the lounge. Here's the pics (I know, I know, ya'll are probably growing tired of all of my pics)        |

Thank you all. Redwine, the desk was one that I bought 15 years or so ago. I'd been goin into a furniture store for about a year, watching this desk and the sales price dropping from a ridiculous $1800 down to $1500, then $1000, then $500. I offered em $250 and we settled on $350. It's a writing desk with Ball & Claw legs and the middle drawer face that folds down to accommodate a keyboard. The rug was a Bed Bath & Beyond sale. Picked it up for $50. I know, I'm a cheap SOB. I call it thrifty, the Blonde calls it cheap. |

Thanks for all of the kind words gang. I have to admit that I am thoroughly enjoyin this space. I kind of laughed at myself a bit this evening. I was opening a box of my latest tobacco acquisitions, and realized that I have spent more on tobacco, this past month, than I did on all of the furnishings in the mancave. So, despite all of my great finds on CL, I have more than made up for it with my tobacco cellar. But hey, all in all I'm happy with my purchases. |
