Not to hijack thread but New Mexico also grows great peanuts look for Portales peanuts. The road from Albuquerque to Las Cruces is pretty boring. The highlight is in Socorro a 24 hour café that has not been remodeled since the those cool space age theme 70's. I suppose it is still there.

When my son was stationed in Camp Lejuene, he got me hooked on these...cajun peanuts.

Never had Boiled Peanuts until last year when an immigrant from Georgia showed up at a pot-luck with a pot of them. Enjoyed them.
NM grows some great peanuts.
I recall, years back, a co-worked brought home a Taiwanese wife while in the Viet Nam Theater. She used to make Peanut Soup and is that ever great! Might have to look for a recipe.
