some of the cobs I've finished -- a metallic lavender freehand with custom stem
top: a plum apple diplomat with iridescent and fuschia glitter top coats and fuschia glitter ferrule; middle -- a plum Mark Twain with iridescent top coat and lavender metallic ferrule; bottom -- lavender apple diplomat with fuschia glitter overcoat and ferrule
and because I'm longing for Autumn -- a light peach apple diplomat with champagne glitter overcoat and copper ferrule; a dark peach country gent with champagne glitter overcoat and copper ferrule

I've seen others with painted cobs and have read it doesn't really have an impact on how they smoke, interested to hear how the do for you.

will let you know, but I wouldn't think they would be any different than those that are polished.

Ha! Absolutely awesome. Just fantastic. Lady M, I've never met you in person, but you make my life better. She does that. At the risk of sounding ancient, I sometimes think of the good ole days of guy clubs and rooms, but if I were to be in a pipe club that didn't have Lady Margaret it wouldn't be worth a tenth as much. Again, I am sorry to sound old school, non PC and all that.

aaawwwww, that is so sweet of both of you! don't worry about being old school, I am part of the same school. As Jerry Clower once said, "Momma don't want to be liberated!" lol. My beloved hubby, the former Marine, former Army Drill Sergeant, is most definitely NOT PC! Of course, in the days of the men's clubs that didn't allow women, I would be the woman who dressed up as a guy and snunk in! lol.

Lady M, I like your cobs even though lavender isn't my favorite color. I have modified a couple cobs in years past that might tickle your fancy. First is a patent era Dunhill that had a burned out and broken bowl. I salvaged the shank and stem and put a cob bowl on it. This is my Halloween cob. I shortened the shank about a half an inch because it was a little unbalanced with the long stem.

I found one site that has green stems but is there a site where you have more color choice for cobs?

This place was recommended to me, David. Haven't tried it out yet, but apparently they are all meant to fit MM cobs.

I saved 20%. Bad check fees 35.00 on each end. So, I lose 50%. The banks made 70$ and I am on my way out of town!

Lacy M, did you make the pipes yourself? I am currently planning a winter of pipe restoration and building. I have a flock of corn cobs drying for the cob creation projects. I am thinking of slathering the outside of the cob with plaster, ala MM way. Ideas?

Very cool! I'm doing the cob creation thing too, mine are still on the stalks, though. I haven't thought that far ahead, though. These are cobs I buy and just paint. I bought the one stem to personalize the freehand for myself because I LOVE purple

So will you be wearing that purple carnation this evening? I think these are very cool, all of them. The purple swirled stem on the Freehand I'd never seen before. The "Patent Era Dunhill cob" is amazing.

I had to be comical in my first reply, but I was given a Chinese name by my friends that I used as a pen name for years. It translated into Lavender Tranquility
