Looking at another web sites What are you Smoking thread with just a little over 1000 posts and half of those are Jim's. Thanks to everyone posting in our thread for making it funny and worth reading.

The other group has been very kind to me, but often some edginess comes out. Every part of my day, even when I get on my Lady Margaret inspired Lavender Underwear High Horse, is all about fun. Admittedly, when someone doesn't spot my BS I don't always respond with as much joy.
I said all that to say this group is a total joy.

Out of a somewhat morbid curiousity,I looked at the WAYS thread on another forum.
They have a membership number in the 4000 range but they are trailing our monthly
WAYS thread by around 300 posts. As I have said before,this group is engaged and
engaging.We need to start trolling for new pipers to fill our ranks even further.
P.S. Everyone needs to send Jim some fried eggs to cellar.

We are are a group of distinguished congregation. Within groups are a subset of groups found to be distinguishing the diversity of the congregation. Punk Rock is a blaring example. Within the whole, there are many different groups that share a like mind separate from eachother. There are the candy kids, who are in the scene just to be seen. The political punks that always have a reason and/or a cause in everything they do. Everything. Then there are band junkies. They think it's only about the bands. They like to test the knowledge of everyone they meet on how many bands they've seen. The more unknown and underground the better with that crowd. Then there are the misfits of the scene. They are just punks because that is what they are. No more, no less. If we all think about it, I think we can all find examples in the pipe smoking community, as well as any other area of life. I think we are the misfits. We are just what we are, doing what we do for no other reason than this is who we are. It's also where I feel I belong since there is no competition within this subset. No one is trying to out do eachother. We are just pipe smokers congregating for the love of smoking our pipes.

Yet the difference is, in another club someone remarked that pipe smoking does not go hand in hand with story telling. I think the opposite and this group, as I see it, thinks the opposite. It's all about sitting around the campfire sharing and caring.

I started doing it because I was too lazy to take pics of all my pipes, and too lazy to get a Photobucket account, and of course, we saw how that eventually turned out. It's a fun group and that's what it's about. I enjoy reading the story threads, what everyone is smoking and mixing up, and the atmosphere is nice.

I wouldn't "Dream" ( ) of trying to get/steal members off other forums.  However,if we were to share the forum more on FB and at the local B&Ms mayhap we could bolster our numbers some.Maybe some thread aimed at new pipers that need a bit of advice. |
