We went to a Jerry Jeff Walker concert in Houston in 78. He didn't show up, which happened more often than not. His good friends Willie and Waylon filled in for him. The crowd was happy. So, I would have to say that from the limited sample, looking for JJW was a good way to meet Willie and Waylon. May we all have better friends than we deserve. You notice that he did make the Highwaymen. I have seen David Houston and Charlie Pride at the Conroe Ballroom, and many others at the Houston Rodeo. Hundreds of thousands of miles driving across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas listening to the local radio stations from 1964 through 1971. The old music is embedded in my soul. Sounds if he's following in the foot steps of George Jones (No Show Jones) LOL! Charley Pride is another of my all time favorites also. I've never been able to attend many concerts but, I did have the chance to see Merle Haggard at a fair once and it was great.

As a general rule, I don't like country and am rock, but I'm referring to the more modern songs which are less written to be music, and more written to make dollars. Rock's gone the same way. Any time a singer has to have dancy people prancing around behind them they lose me. That said, this older country that is from the heart and not written to make a buck is fantastic. I too like Rock music but, the older stuff as you would guess, Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly, etc, etc. But, I do love Country just as much..........the true Country of days gone by. And much other music like instrumentals, Classical, Soul, some opera, etc. Sorry, no head banging, Rap or the like.

I saw Steppenwolf at the now gone Keystone nightclub in Palo Alto, it was a small great venue...My brother and his buddy sat up on the stage rocking out passing whiskey between them, for quite awhile the band thought that they were laid back security, and the nightclub thought that they were roadies from the band...eventually someone told them to join the crowd. John Kay went on a rant about how there was a fake Steppenwolf band touring, and that the real Steppenwold would always be known by "John Kay and Steppenwolf"...I am guessing that either they didn't trademark the name, or somebody else did. Amazing to see he still tours, albeit a limited tour schedule. steppenwolf.com/

Jerry Jeff Walker made George Jones look like Mr Dependable. We tried to see him 3 times and gave 3 times. I don't know anyone who has ever seen him in person where he was able to perform. I got so disgusted that to this day I won't listen to his music. Him and David Allen Coe. I respect musicians who have the discipline to show up and perform day in and day out for decades too much.

He's still one of my favorites vocalists.

I can't say anything about Jeff Walker but, David Alan Cole I'm not a fan of really. His 1st hit and I don't recall the name of it but, that's that, he's got some issues that I can't deal with. Oh! I think it's "you never call me by my name"?

What ever order it falls, I just know that was the only one I liked. ("You don't even call me by my name") He certainly needed someone to open for him, I don't think he could hold it on his own. Of course that's coming from one who dislikes him and doesn't necessarily mean that's how most feel.

This is pure gold. My favorite Waylon song. His greatest hits is probably my favorite road trip music. Have been a fan since I was in high school and a buddy turned me on to his music.

Waylon was great. The Lone Survivor of the Day the Music Died. I worked security for David Allen Coe's first concert when he got out of prison. He had a bunch of 1%ers for his private security. He threatened the audience and his people harassed the people who tried to leave. We couldn't do anything about it. The police were MIA. He was worse than anything you might have heard.

Sounds like The Rolling Stones hiring the Hells Angels to provide security for the concert at Altamont.... what could go wrong?😜 www.rollingstone.com/music/news/the-rolling-stones-disaster-at-altamont-let-it-bleed-19700121I read Sonny Barger's book where he described the incident... he said as much.

Nobody got hurt that night, as far as I know. It was just really unpleasant.
